Press Release: School’s Cool Earns Top Marks As Preschool Education Workshop Presenters-National Association For The Education Of Young Children (NAEYC) Conference & Expo

School’s Cool successfully ran a professional development workshop entitled “Systematic child assessment: Using outcome-based activities in a play based environment to measure progress and optimize child success”. About 100 early childhood educators attended this one hour training and the response from attendees ranged from “thought provoking”, to “life altering”.

Haliburton, ON – November 23rd, 2010- The School’s Cool kindergarten readiness and preschool education program has returned from the NAEYC conference with high praise from professional attending their workshop entitled “Systematic child assessment: using outcome-based activities in a play based environment to measure progress and optimize child success.” This professional development workshop addressed an outcome based curriculum which focuses on identifying and building on a child’s strengths and competencies in a play based environment.

Participants explored and discussed outcome-based programming, including examples of clear, measurable objectives that form the basis for assessing emerging child development. Each participant practiced how to effectively observe and document the data of a hypothetical child using School’s Cool’s evaluation tool – the Developmental Checklist. Participants were also introduced to strategies that support curriculum planning which responds to the individual strengths and needs of each child and how to provide a juncture for parent engagement and communication.
