SPV Viareggio returns to win Youth Scudetto as CGC and Forte close in on podium finish

Hockey Breganze and SPV Viareggio returned to victory after five years in the finals held last weekend in Castiglione della Pescaia (U13) and Viareggio (U17). Breganze returns to winning ways 5 years after their last U17 championship, winning their first title (since 2000) in the U13 category, and fifth overall in the last 24 years. The fourth championship since 2000 for SPV Viareggio, the last in the under-19 category for 2018, and the second in the under-17 category, note Zone2’s hat-trick in the under-13 category, (Briganzi, Roller Bassano and Theini) and the two medals in. The final was between Vicenza against Roller Bassano, the winner of the first group, and the semi-final match against Theni 8-2. A single goal was scored by captain Nicolas Toaldo in the fifth minute of the second half to decide the match. Silver for Rolle Bassano and bronze for Theni after he defeated Scandiano on penalties in the final (6-5).

The Under-17 National Finals were held at PalaBarsacchi where the organizing club, SPV Viareggio, declared themselves champions of Italy. The team coached by Alessandro Martini dominated the first set, winning 11-1 over Correggio, 4-1 over CGC Viareggio, 8-3 over Tresino, 12-0 over Lodi. They were seeded straight through to the semi-finals, again winning 7-1 over CGC Viareggio who beat Breganze 6-4 in the quarter-finals. In the league final they met again with Trissino, who won the semi-final against Roller Bassano on penalties 7-6, winner of the second group. The final featured two goals scored by Cardella at the opening and closing of the first half. , with two goals in the middle from Serreta and Fortuna from Tresino, in a very exciting final with three goals in one minute. Opportunities abounded in the second half, but there was also some fear, but Giovanni Pesavento decided the match by snatching the ball from the Vicenza defense 25 seconds before the end, taking advantage of a clear counterattack that did not fail, making the score 3-2 in favor of the team.
