Clark Takes on the World - Online Auction and Fundraiser for "SuperClark" Harris begins May 2.

WireService.ca Press Release (04/30/2014) Kitchener, ON - A large number of businesses and local residents have come together to support a Kitchener family in need. An online auction is being held to help Heather and Matthew Harris purchase a wheelchair accessible home for their infant son Clark, who was born with an extremely rare genetic brain disorder.

"SuperClark" - as he has become known both online and throughout the KW community - was diagnosed with Pontocerebellar Hypoplasia, Type 2 (PCH2) at the age of 4 months. His condition is so rare that little-to-no research has been done on it and there is no known treatment available. The sparse data that his Doctors have to go on indicate that Clark may never walk, talk, or even survive beyond childhood since his cerebellum (the control centre of the brain) and pons did not fully develop. Despite this grim medical outlook, Clark is proving to be a strong boy and even capable of achieving small developmental milestones unexpected of a child with PCH2.

The "Clark Takes on the World" Online Auction is being hosted at clarktakesontheworld.eflea.ca Items are currently available for preview. Bidding begins at 8am on Friday, May 2 and will close at 10pm on Thursday, May 8. The Harris' have received an outpouring of support with over 150 items donated from restaurants, attractions, theatres, artisans, professional services and community members. Highlights include a signed Montreal Canadiens Jersey, two weekend passes to Hillside Festival, a Gibson Les Paul electric guitar, a July cottage weekend for 2-6 people at beautiful Lions Head on the Bruce Peninsula, and 4 tickets in the Royal Box to a performance of Romeo and Juliet, June 21 or 22, with signed programs and pointe shoes.
