MitoCanada is hosting the second annual Stay in Bed fundraiser, February to March 2014. Press Release (02/03/2014) - MitoCanada is hosting the second annual Stay in Bed fundraiser and awareness builder all across Canada. "This event has been adopted from our Mito family in Australia. The Australian Mitochondrial Disease Foundation has had excellent results with this event," says Vicky Spadoni, MitoCanada Executive Director.

"This event is perfect for schools and corporations to get involved with! Have some fun, sell rest periods throughout the day for your students and staff. They will be thanking you for participating," says Martin Snead, National Fundraising and Special Events Coordinator.

What to do on Stay in Bed day?

Stay in Bed and don't feel guilty. No, we are not kidding. We want you to stay in bed and it's all for a worthy cause - to raise funds for research into mitochondrial disease. Stay in Bed for those who don't always have a choice. "Mito" is an incurable, debilitating disease that robs the body's cells of energy and can lead to multiple organ dysfunction or failure and potentially death.

How long you spend in bed is up to you. You collect pledges to support MitoCanada while you rest and relax, cuddle up with a good book, watch a movie or talk on the phone to someone special. Or maybe you do the opposite and organize a pyjama party with friends, enjoy breakfast and later a movie. Hold a bed relay so the bed is never empty! The ideas are endless.

Contact MitoCanada for your opportunity to join thousands of others and Stay in Bed! Top fundraiser is eligible to win a gorgeous homemade quilt provided through the Mito Quilts of Hope Project and Joanne's Longarm Quilting.
