British Columbia

Today Andrew Weaver, leader of the B.C. Green Party, issued a statement regarding the ongoing negative ad campaigns that both the B.C. NDP and B.C. Liberals have launched in the final days of this election. Media Release (05/05/2017) Victoria, BC - "When I see the types of ads that are being used by both the B.C. NDP and BC Liberals I get angry," said Weaver. "This is nothing short of voter suppression. Both parties are trying to make voting for your preferred party so unsavory, that you choose not to vote at all.

"The party who won the last election was not the B.C. Liberals - it was the non-voter. And again this election, rather than give people something to vote for, both the B.C. Liberals and B.C. NDP have spent their time telling us who we should be voting against. Their hope is that people will simply disengage and stay home out of frustration.

"I think this approach will backfire. This is not what British Columbians want from their leaders. People are tired of politics as usual - and so are we.

"The B.C. Greens have been focused on offering British Columbians something they can vote for. We have developed a platform that includes the largest investments into public education of any party, and maps out a new vision to make British Columbia a leader in the emerging economy.

"Amidst all of this negativity, we are proud to be offering something British Columbians a change they can count on."
