Media Release: Chinook Country Tourism in partnership with Travel Alberta and Seekers Media launch innovative social media initiative via Hootsuite to boost business

The #BucketListAB Ambassadors network will be busy this spring and summer bringing audiences from around the world authentic and engaging content about the culture, history and adventures that can be experienced in Southern Alberta.

WireService.ca Media Release (05/08/2017) ALBERTA - Chinook Country Tourism is working with Travel Alberta, Seekers Media, Hootsuite, 18 attractions and nine social media ambassadors to launch this innovative network.

"Our number one priority is to increase the visitor economy in southern Alberta. Our partners rely on us to share current best practices, especially on how to engage and communicate with our visitors," says Candace Ebrey, Marketing Director with Chinook Country Tourist Association. "Often this means stepping out of our comfort zone and embracing unknown territory."

The #BucketListAB ambassadors' network is a North America first in using the latest social media technology to ensure the success of this initiative that gets the word out about tourism offerings in this region.

Statistics show that smartphone use now accounts for almost one-third of any North American's daytime activities. Screens are getting smaller and attention spans shorter. That means it's getting more challenging for marketing organizations to generate interest in their content and messages.

That's where Hootsuite comes in. Hootsuite Amplify allows local ambassadors to not only share the content they capture through their smartphone onto their own social media channels, but also out to the rest of the network so that organizations such as Chinook Country, Travel Alberta, Seekers Media and the rest of the #BucketListAB partners can share the content on the fly.

"Working with Seeker's Media and Hootsuite allows us to stay true to our values while trailblazing with leading-edge initiatives to increase awareness of the rich and authentic experiences in our region," Ebray said.

"By developing this ambassadors' network via Hootsuite Amplify, it allows our ambassadors and our partners to engage with each other's content like never before," says Jim Barr, Seekers Media CEO. This network effect is critical to engaging audiences in a new way through authentic and engaging content," Barr added.

A team of nine locals living in locations from Crowsnest Pass, to Lethbridge, Brooks, Drumheller, Medicine Hat and everywhere in between from across Southern Alberta, will dispatch amazing photos and engaging videos from now through September. Those social media posts will be used to promote the region, challenging audiences to build their own Southern Alberta Bucket Lists and visit the region using special incentives found on its website www.TourSouthernAlberta.com
