Brigadoon Children's Camp Society will be launching its second Let's Go! Campaign on Monday, March 3, with a goal of $1.5 million. Hosting the evening are Mrs. Marjorie Lindsay and Mr. John Young Q.C. There will also be a special surprise guest in attendance.

WireService.ca Press Release (02/28/2014) HALIFAX, NS - Brigadoon Village began as a dream. With the dedication, hard work and support of many people from the Atlantic Canadian community, Brigadoon Village is now fully operational and preparing to welcome more than 500 children to its programs this summer. For this reason, Brigadoon is launching its second campaign with a $1.5 million goal.

On Monday, March 3 at the Waegwoltic Clubhouse, the Brigadoon community and supporters will come together for the Let's Go! Campaign launch, which will be hosted by Mrs. Marjorie Lindsay and Mr. John Young Q.C. and will feature a special surprise guest.

"We are celebrating the fact that we are preparing to welcome over 500 campers with chronic illness, chronic conditions or special needs this summer, but also to raise awareness that there is an ongoing need to continue supporting Brigadoon Village so that chronically ill children and youth can be given the chance to experience the transformative abilities which derive from camp," says campaign Chair, John Young Q.C.

Brigadoon Village already has pledges from several organizations such as: Willowdale Farms, Medavie Health Foundation, Janssen Pharmaceuticals and the Royal Bank of Canada Foundation. "Our supporters and funders have been extremely generous to us and we wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for their partnerships. However, as we continue to grow so does our need for support, which is why we are launching this campaign. The support we receive will give children and youth the opportunity to experience a place where they are allowed to just be themselves, and not a patient or a chart of symptoms," says Dave Graham, Executive Director for Brigadoon Village.

Brigadoon Village has seen a 30% annual growth in the number of children it serves in Atlantic Canada. It is gearing up for its fourth summer of operation and will offer camps for children with a chronic illness, chronic condition or special need throughout 9 weeks of the summer.

Brigadoon Children's Camp Society believes that children have infinite potential when given the chance to explore, discover, challenge, innovate and create. Being able to offer campers the opportunity to come together to make new friends who share the same medical experiences is the fundamental reason why Brigadoon Village is so special and unique to Atlantic Canada.
