Mayor Avv. Pietro Tidei Princess Elettra Marconi, Honorary Citizen of the Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the New Town Hall to present the Municipal Project for the Science Park of Torre Chiaruccia, named after Guglielmo Marconi and the program of celebrations in 2024, on the 150th anniversary of the birth of Marconi, who will be her god, which will mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Marconi. Livio Spinelli, for these commendable projects aimed at preserving the memory of his father, and ensuring his full support and personal participation in the scheduled events.
As is known, Marconi from 1929 to 1937 was the first in the world to use microwave radio for mobile radio, radar and television in his radio experimental center in Torre Chiarocchia. Here in 1933 he built the first mobile radio telephone for Pope Pius XI, and in 1935 he supplied his British Ministry of Defence’s RADAR station company. Great Britain, thanks to which – as evidenced by archival documents – the British were able to prevent the Nazi invasion in 1940.
At the end of the meeting, Mayor Teddy Prof. Livio Spinelli and the Naval League of Santa Marinella organized a sailing excursion from Porto Riva di Traiano to the stretch of water in front of Torre Chiaruccia to celebrate Princess Elettra’s birthday with a toast. The President of the Maritime Association of Santa Marinella then awarded honorary member cards to the Mayor and Princess.
