Streaming platform expands August slate with original series, films, documentaries and exclusive sports coverage
Prime Video has announced an extensive lineup of original programming, films and live sports arriving throughout August 2026, offering subscribers a mix of scripted dramas, action series, documentaries and exclusive sporting events.
The month’s schedule is headlined by the debut of Sterling Point, a coming-of-age drama set in Ontario’s Muskoka region, alongside the return of the hit action series Reacher for its fourth season. New feature films, including Beast Race, The Last Sunrise, The Christophers, and You, Me & Tuscany, also join the platform, while sports programming expands with exclusive WNBA, National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) and ONE Championship events.
The lineup reflects Prime Video’s continued investment in original entertainment and live sports as competition among streaming platforms intensifies.

‘Sterling Point’ Brings Canadian Setting to Prime Video
One of the month’s most anticipated releases is Sterling Point, premiering on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The series follows 17-year-old Annie Jacobson, portrayed by Ella Rubin, whose life changes after inheriting her grandfather’s island in Canada. Raised in New York City alongside her twin brother and adoptive father, Annie’s move introduces her to new friendships, first love and long-buried family secrets.
The cast includes Amélie Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Nikko Angelo Hinayo, Mabel Strachan, Elle-Maija Tailfeathers, and Missi Pyle.
Action, Romance and Drama Expand the Film Catalogue
Action fans can stream Beast Race beginning Aug. 7, a dystopian science-fiction thriller set in a future Rio de Janeiro devastated by class conflict. The film follows Mano, a resistance fighter forced into a deadly competition to save his younger sister after she becomes collateral in a brutal survival contest.
Additional film premieres throughout the month include You, Me & Tuscany on Aug. 10, a romantic drama set in Italy, and The Christophers, starring Ian McKellen, James Corden, Jessica Gunning and Michaela Coel, centred on family conflict and artistic legacy.
Later in the month, Is God Is arrives on Aug. 19, telling the story of twin sisters confronting childhood trauma during a cross-country journey.
‘Reacher’ Returns for Fourth Season
Lee Child Adaptation Continues with ‘Gone Tomorrow’
Prime Video will release the fourth season of Reacher on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
Based on Gone Tomorrow, the 13th novel in Lee Child’s bestselling series, the new season follows Jack Reacher after a chance encounter on a subway draws him into a dangerous conspiracy involving powerful adversaries.
Alan Ritchson reprises the lead role, joined by new cast members Chris Marquette, Sydelle Noel, Agnez Mo, Anggun, Kevin Weisman, Marc Blucas, Kevin Corrigan, and Kathleen Robertson.
Sports Programming Expands Throughout August
WNBA, NWSL and ONE Championship Featured Live
Prime Video continues to strengthen its live sports offering with four weeks of WNBA Thursday night doubleheaders, featuring teams including the Indiana Fever, Las Vegas Aces, New York Liberty, Los Angeles Sparks, Dallas Wings, and Phoenix Mercury.
Women’s soccer also remains a key focus, with four featured NWSL matches scheduled during August, including three appearances by Gotham FC.
Combat sports programming continues with ONE Fight Night 46 on Aug. 14, headlined by Stella Hemetsberger against Natalia Diachkova.
Documentaries and International Programming Add Variety
Novak Djokovic Documentary Headlines Non-Fiction Releases
Sports fans will also have access to Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter, premiering Aug. 20.
The documentary examines the career and personal journey of the 24-time Grand Slam champion through interviews with Djokovic, his family and tennis legends including Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi and Boris Becker.
Faith-based audiences can stream The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls beginning Aug. 9, featuring members of The Chosen cast joining Grylls on outdoor expeditions that combine adventure with personal conversations about faith and resilience.
Prime Video also adds Back to the 90s on Aug. 21, following five aspiring musicians who unexpectedly travel back in time while pursuing their dream of forming a successful boy band.
The month concludes with The Last Sunrise, premiering Aug. 26. Based on Anna Todd’s novel, the romantic drama stars Maia Reficco as a college student living with a chronic illness whose summer in Mallorca leads to romance, self-discovery and revelations about her family’s past.
