Fundraiser Event Aims to Build Momentum Ahead of Revel Music Festival
NELSON, B.C. — A family-oriented electronic music event is set to return to Nelson later this month, as BPM COMMUNICATIONS prepares to host the second edition of its Prevel mini-festival.
Scheduled for May 30, 2026, the event will serve as a fundraiser for the upcoming Revel Music Festival, reinforcing its role as both a cultural gathering and a community-driven initiative in the Kootenay region.
The one-day festival will take place at Eagles Hall in downtown Nelson, running from 4:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m. the following morning. Organizers say the event is designed to appeal to a broad audience, with programming that balances electronic music, visual art, and family-friendly amenities.
Expanded Programming Reflects Growing Demand
Following what organizers described as a successful debut last year, Prevel 2026 will feature a diverse lineup of DJs from across the Kootenays, including anyaQ, Bass Cat, Blee, Colby Bedford, Christopher Wayne, FGK@, IN2IT, La Famille, Lexa Voltz, MP, Old Ben, PeteToTheBeat, RAH and Sunny Acres.
The event will also incorporate live artistic elements, including performances by Puppets on the Move and silk fan artistry by Célia, adding a visual dimension to the music-focused experience.
Organizers have placed particular emphasis on inclusivity, with all-ages access permitted until 10:00 p.m. A supervised play zone, operated by Acorn and Oak, will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., allowing families to participate more fully in the event.
The childcare provider, known for its flexible and mobile services across the West Kootenays, will offer a safe, structured environment within the venue, reflecting a broader trend toward integrating family services into public entertainment events.
Culinary and Experiential Elements Add to Appeal
In addition to music and art, attendees will have access to a pop-up vegan noodle and mocktail bar operated by BPM COMMUNICATIONS. The offering aligns with the company’s broader focus on immersive event design, combining food, atmosphere and entertainment into a unified experience.
Organizers say the goal is to create a welcoming environment that extends beyond traditional nightlife formats.
“Whether it is the music, the culinary delights or the vibrant sense of community, Prevel 2026 promises an unforgettable start to the festival season.”
Strategic Positioning Ahead of Summer Festival Season
Prevel serves as a lead-in event for the Revel Music Festival, which is scheduled to run from August 13 to 16, 2026. The larger festival, founded by Nora Dawn Tribe—also known as DJ RAH—has positioned itself as a boutique, nature-focused gathering that blends music, art and outdoor experiences.
Set along a river during the annual Perseid meteor shower, Revel emphasizes a smaller-scale, curated environment compared to larger commercial festivals. Organizers say this approach has helped build a loyal audience seeking more intimate and community-driven experiences.
Local Business Collaboration at the Core
BPM COMMUNICATIONS, the company behind Prevel, is co-owned by Marie-Paule Berthiaume (DJ MP) and Justin Cameron (Chef Justin). The firm specializes in bilingual communications and event production, offering services ranging from writing and translation to brand development and experiential design.
The company’s involvement in both Prevel and Revel highlights a growing intersection between creative industries and regional economic development in smaller Canadian markets.
By combining entertainment, hospitality and community engagement, events like Prevel contribute to Nelson’s reputation as a cultural hub within British Columbia’s interior.
Community-Centred Growth
As demand for alternative festival experiences continues to grow, particularly those that cater to families and diverse audiences, Prevel’s model reflects a shift in how live events are structured.
With its blend of music, childcare, food and art, the event aims to lower barriers to participation while maintaining the energy of a traditional electronic music gathering.
Prevel 2026 tickets are available online, with proceeds supporting the continued development of the Revel Music Festival later this summer.
