Montréal dark synthwave producer continues global rise with new release through Lisbon Lux Records
Montréal-based dark synthwave producer Das Mörtal has announced the release of his latest double single, PARASITE & GHOST, arriving June 4, 2026 through Lisbon Lux Records, alongside news of an upcoming mini-album titled DECVY I, scheduled for release on Oct. 29, 2026.
The producer, who has amassed more than 31.4 million Spotify streams and built a growing international audience across North America and Europe, continues to expand his reputation within the electronic and darkwave music scenes. The new project follows a string of critically recognized releases and extensive touring activity that has seen Das Mörtal perform nearly 100 live shows since 2015.
New release blends darkwave, witch house and synth-driven electronic music
The double single presents two stylistically distinct tracks that together preview the sonic direction of DECVY I.
‘PARASITE’ delivers a fast-paced darkwave sound driven by upbeat percussion and layered synth melodies, while ‘GHOST’ incorporates elements of witch house and electronic pop through vocal hooks and club-oriented rhythms.
According to the artist, the themes explored in ‘PARASITE’ stem from personal experiences with illness.
“An illness has affected my body for some time now, and PARASITE was made under a pain that I can’t quite shake off,” Das Mörtal said.
The release is expected to appeal to listeners of artists such as Vitalic, Perturbator and Ø [phase], reflecting Das Mörtal’s signature blend of techno, synthwave and industrial-inspired electronic music.
International recognition and festival appearances fuel momentum
Das Mörtal has steadily developed an international presence over the past decade, appearing at festivals including Osheaga, Transmusicales de Rennes, FME and MEG Festival.
He has also toured alongside prominent electronic acts including Vitalic, Perturbator and Carpenter Brut, helping establish his reputation in both underground electronic circles and broader festival audiences.
More than 70 of his live performances have taken place across the United States and Europe, including dates in the United Kingdom, France and Scandinavia. His music has also secured placement on influential Spotify playlists such as Retrowave // Outrun and Darkwave.
Critical acclaim across electronic and alternative music media
Das Mörtal’s recent releases have drawn praise from several international music publications, highlighting the producer’s evolving sound and cinematic approach to electronic music production.
YourEDM wrote: “With ‘Falsche Daten’, Das Mörtal doesn’t just revisit his origins – he weaponises them, offering a brutal, beautiful techno odyssey.”
NOTION Magazine stated: “‘I Just Want To Hold You (Part 1)’ shows a new side to Das Mörtal, one which is unflinching in its obscurity. With licks of Daft Punk, Justice and Kavinsky, the track has funk running all the way through it as winding synths are layered over an unshakeable beat. The song is brimming with a fiery romanticism, yet the grit that comes all too naturally for the artist keeps the listener guessing; you can’t pin Das Mörtal down.”
METAL Magazine commented on WASTED, saying: “The energy runs through our body while we listen…”
Post-Punk.com described Falsche Daten as “Falsche Daten feels archivally ancient and sharply present at once; a rave relic reanimated to stalk today’s dancefloors with fresh voltage and feral intent.”
EARMILK also praised BURY THE SORROW, writing: “With a genre-blended artistry that has seen him appeal to a diverse range of music fans, the track and album will leave you introspective yet finding the fun in life eventually.”
Kaltblut Magazine added: “Returning from a sojourn to another genre, Das Mörtal delivers another classically ‘Mörtal’ track.”
Berlin roots continue to shape Montréal producer’s sound
Although now based in Montréal, Das Mörtal traces much of his artistic foundation to Berlin, where his musical direction was influenced by artists such as Steve Moore and Aphex Twin.
His work combines influences from techno, occult electro, horror and science-fiction film scores, Italo disco and retro-inspired synth music, creating a sound that has resonated strongly with fans of darker electronic genres.
Industry recognition has continued to grow through support from publications including CLASH Magazine, KALTBLUT Magazine, METAL Magazine, Run The Trap, Canadian Beats, MetalSucks, Cult MTL, Le Canal Auditif and Brutal Resonance.
In addition to editorial coverage, Das Mörtal’s music earned “Most Added New Release” status on the American college radio chart Top 200 NACC and has been featured by influential electronic music channels on YouTube, including NewRetroWave.
With PARASITE & GHOST now released and DECVY I arriving later this year, Das Mörtal appears poised to further strengthen his position within the international dark electronic music landscape.
