City Operations Delayed Following Major Snowfall Event
Heavy snowfall over the past 24 hours has disrupted transportation and municipal services across Prince Albert, prompting city officials to advise residents of ongoing delays as crews work to restore normal operations.
The City of Prince Albert said snow removal efforts are fully underway after the storm significantly affected travel both داخل and outside city limits. Municipal crews have nearly completed clearing priority emergency routes and continue progressing through bus routes across the city.
Transit Suspended Amid Route Clearing Efforts
Public transit service has been suspended for the day as snow-clearing crews continue to address road conditions.
“Transit will not be running today. This might change later today as routes get cleared,” the city said in its latest service update.
Officials noted that residents seeking updates on when transit service may resume should monitor the city’s transit news webpage.
The city added that the prolonged snowfall and high accumulation levels have also slowed other municipal operations, contributing to delays in garbage and recycling collection.
Garbage and Recycling Schedule Adjusted
Waste collection schedules have been modified as crews contend with hazardous road conditions and expected melting following the snowfall.
According to the city, “Today’s (April 8, 2026) Zone 2 garbage pickup is rescheduled to Friday.”
In addition, “Friday’s (April 10, 2026) Zone 4 recycling pickup is cancelled to ensure crews can complete the Zone 2 route.”
Residents are being encouraged to verify their updated waste collection schedules through the city’s online waste calendar.
Residents Asked to Report Hazardous Conditions
City officials warned that blowing snow may continue to create hazardous driving conditions and render some roads impassable.
Residents are being asked to report blocked roads and other snow-related concerns through the city’s Report a Concern Portal or by contacting the Solutions Hub.
City Urges Caution Around Snow Removal Crews
The municipality thanked residents for their patience as cleanup operations continue and reminded drivers to exercise caution around snow-clearing equipment.
“When encountering graders, loaders, and other equipment on the road, please slow down and give crews ample space to work safely,” the city said.
Cleanup Expected to Continue as Weather Impacts Persist
Snow-clearing efforts are expected to continue throughout the day as crews work to restore access to transit routes and residential streets.
The city has not provided a timeline for when all operations will return to normal but said updates will be issued as conditions improve.
Residents are advised to monitor official city channels for the latest information on service disruptions and road conditions.
