Country Star Tyler Joe Miller to Make Musicfest Debut on July 15
PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — Peterborough Musicfest is set to welcome two acclaimed Canadian artists this week, with country singer Tyler Joe Miller making his festival debut on Wednesday, July 15, followed by award-winning singer-songwriter Julian Taylor headlining the annual Woven Stories celebration on Saturday, July 18.
The performances continue the festival’s 2026 summer season, bringing nationally recognized talent to the Fred Anderson Stage while maintaining the event’s longstanding tradition of offering free live music to the public.
Tyler Joe Miller, one of Canada’s most successful contemporary country artists, will take the stage at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The British Columbia-born performer has built a strong reputation in the country music industry through a string of chart-topping releases and growing international reach.
With multiple No. 1 singles, Platinum-certified recordings, and more than 165 million global streams, Miller has become a prominent figure in Canadian country music. Tracks such as Pillow Talkin’, Sometimes I Do, and Back to Drinkin’ Whiskey have resonated with listeners through a blend of personal storytelling, relatable themes, and a modern country sound.
“Tyler Joe Miller has built a strong following with songs that connect through honest storytelling and a modern country sound,” said Tracey Randall, Executive Director of Peterborough Musicfest. “We’re excited to welcome him for his first Musicfest appearance and another great summer night on the waterfront.”
Future Sound Series to Showcase Emerging Talent
Before Miller’s main-stage performance, audiences will have the opportunity to hear local artist Joanna Bronson as part of the Future Sound Series presented by Cogeco. The side-stage performance begins at 6:30 p.m. and continues the festival’s commitment to supporting emerging and regional musicians.
Festival organizers are also encouraging attendees to engage with the Peterborough Musicfest Companion App while visiting Del Crary Park. By scanning QR codes located throughout the venue, concertgoers can access Musicfest Park Perks, participate in interactive challenges, and receive prizes and promotional offers from sponsors and local businesses.
In addition, the festival’s season-long 50/50 raffle remains active, with tickets available online and at the park. Proceeds help support the operation of one of Canada’s longest-running free-admission music festivals while giving participants an opportunity to win a growing cash prize.
Official festival merchandise will also be available on-site throughout the evening.
Julian Taylor to Headline Woven Stories Celebration
The weekend lineup continues on Saturday, July 18, when Peterborough Musicfest hosts the return of Woven Stories, an event dedicated to celebrating Indigenous artists through music, storytelling, and cultural experiences.
Now entering its second year, Woven Stories aims to create opportunities for audiences to engage with Indigenous culture while enjoying live performances in the scenic setting of Little Lake.
This year’s featured performer is Julian Taylor, whose body of work spans folk, roots, rock, and Americana influences. Taylor’s songwriting frequently explores themes of identity, resilience, family, and connection, helping establish him as one of Canada’s most respected contemporary singer-songwriters.
A Mohawk and West Indian Canadian artist, Taylor has earned widespread recognition throughout his career, receiving JUNO Award nominations and honours from the Canadian Folk Music Awards. His recordings and live performances have been praised for their authenticity, emotional depth, and musicianship.
Festival organizers say Taylor’s ability to blend personal experiences with broader cultural themes makes him a fitting choice to lead this year’s celebration.
“We’re proud to welcome Woven Stories back for its second year at Peterborough Musicfest,” said Tracey Randall, Executive Director of Peterborough Musicfest. “Julian Taylor is an exceptional songwriter and performer whose music and storytelling make him the perfect artist to headline this year’s celebration.”
Cultural Programming Planned Ahead of Performance
Peterborough Musicfest said it is working alongside Indigenous community partners to develop additional cultural programming leading up to Taylor’s performance. Details are expected to be announced through the festival’s website and social media channels once finalized.
The initiative reflects the festival’s broader efforts to highlight Indigenous voices and provide audiences with experiences that extend beyond live music performances.
As with all Peterborough Musicfest events, admission to both concerts remains free through the support of sponsors and community partners. Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early, bring blankets or lawn chairs, and enjoy a week of live entertainment and cultural celebration on the shores of Little Lake.
