The Toronto Children’s Chorus will return to Roy Thomson Hall on December 13, 2026, for its annual holiday concert, Songs of the Season: Peace and Joy, bringing together traditional carols, classical choral compositions and contemporary seasonal music.
The performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the downtown Toronto concert venue, with tickets going on sale to the general public on Friday, October 16, at 10 a.m.
Announced on October 13, the concert will feature young singers from the Toronto Children’s Chorus (TCC), one of Canada’s established youth choral organizations. This year’s program draws inspiration from an old-fashioned candlelit Christmas celebration, combining seasonal music with traditional storytelling and opportunities for audience participation.
Holiday Concert to Feature Classical and Contemporary Choral Music
The December performance will explore several centuries of choral music, with selections ranging from the Renaissance and Baroque periods to contemporary holiday favourites.
Among the announced works are Johann Sebastian Bach’s Et Exultavit, Ēriks Ešenvalds’ O Salutaris Hostia and John Rutter’s Star Carol.
The selections reflect the concert’s emphasis on combining established classical repertoire with accessible seasonal programming for audiences of different ages.
Organizers are also planning an audience carol sing-along, allowing concertgoers to participate in the musical celebration rather than experience the event solely as spectators.
The concert’s traditional holiday atmosphere will be complemented by performances before the main program.
Toronto Children’s Chorus Alumni Choir to Perform Before Concert
Visitors arriving at Roy Thomson Hall will be welcomed by seasonal carols performed in the venue’s lobby by the Toronto Children’s Chorus Alumni Choir.
The pre-concert performance will bring former chorus members into the annual celebration, connecting current young singers with musicians who previously participated in the organization’s training programs.
The alumni involvement also highlights the chorus’s longstanding role in Toronto’s musical community and its continued relationships with former participants.
Toronto Children’s Chorus Marks 49 Years of Choral Education
Founded nearly five decades ago, the Toronto Children’s Chorus has developed into a prominent organization for youth vocal education and performance in Canada.
Under the leadership of internationally acclaimed Artistic Director Dr. Zimfira Poloz, the organization provides music, vocal and performance training for children and teenagers between the ages of four and 18.
Its educational programs are designed to develop musical skills while providing opportunities for young performers to participate in professional concert environments.
Throughout each season, the chorus presents its own concert series and collaborates with established performing arts organizations, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
The TCC Chamber Choir also undertakes annual international tours, representing Canada at festivals and other choral events abroad.
These activities extend the organization’s work beyond Toronto, contributing to cultural exchanges and providing young Canadian singers with international performance experience.
The December concert forms part of that broader artistic and educational programming, offering an opportunity for the public to hear singers from the organization’s musical community.
