Naples – The project “Days of Παιδεία (Paideia) Training Paths for Sustainable Development” was launched in Citta della Senza with an inaugural event. The importance of knowing, disseminating and practicing the ideas and goals that underpin the 2030 Agenda.

The project, divided into two months of activity (March and April 2022), is driven by a strong spirit of participation and cooperation and lays its foundations in pursuit of Goal 17 (Partnership for the Goals) thanks to the agreement between the various public bodies and individuals (CeRVEnE, Città della Scienza, UOD Prevention and Veterinary Public Health – Campania Region, University of Naples Federico II – DMVPA, Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Southern Italy – Portici, MIdA Foundation, University of Salerno – DISPS, ASL Salerno, Carmine Esperanza Association, Iamhero, Center de Formation Casabio).

The program includes conferences and seminars focusing on Thursdays and Fridays, targeting mainly local stakeholders, while the workshop activities, scheduled to take place on Saturdays and Sundays, target families and the educational community.

The conference and symposium section welcomes many core topics related to the 2030 Agenda such as food security, bees, biodiversity, ecosystem protection, gender equality, human, animal, plant and environmental health. The learning-by-doing workshops focus on first-hand knowledge of the world of bees, fish, dairy, sea and soil, natural pigments and virtual systems.

M. Massimo Cavalier, General Manager of Città della Scienza, said:

“Città della Scienza strongly supports this project that we will be publishing to our large audience of visitors, which consists mainly of schools and families. We must take care of Mother Earth: Sustainability is an essential component. Some of the workshops that will be held over the weekend in our museum will be interested in bees. Well, we realize that by focusing our attention on these tiny insects, we’re highlighting some important principles that characterize their operation. Hard work, solidarity, altruism, good judgment and respect, which are the principles upon which democratic systems are built.”

Raffaele Bove, Cervene Technical Director explained:

“CeRVEnE is a regional center for emergency prevention and management from a health perspective. We are delighted to develop our project dedicated to Agenda 2030 here in Città della Scienza, the perfect setting for a spirit of resilience and active citizenship. This is not a simple course: sharing between the parties and with the world of the school makes us not just publishers but all of us an active part of powerful change, desired by intelligence and passion.”

For the duration of the project, the exhibition ‘Agenda 2030’ will be displayed on the ground floor of the Corporea Museum, consisting of 18 panels illustrating the goals and objectives of the most complex and tangible sustainable development program implemented in 2015 by 193 countries of the United Nations. On Saturdays and Sundays, the exhibition will be animated by an interactive lab entitled “Sustainability and Practice!” It will explore the seventeen objectives starting with the story “Anna and Mary” told in the comic of the same name edited by CeRVEnE.
