It is a great love for football that emerges from reading the book “Another Football Is Still Possible”, written by sports journalist Riccardo Cocchi, who for more than twenty years was a radio presenter for the historic RAI program “Tutto il calcio minute by minute” and some editions of “La Domenica Sportiva”. “.
A romantic love, recalling years of passion born from childhood, of chasing a faux leather ball through courtyards of buildings, along streets rarely frequented by cars or on improvised soccer fields with very little grass and many holes. Often, doors are marked with garage shutters, or piles of jackets and school backpacks, stacked 4/5 meters apart, to indicate columns. The model is imagined at approximately the height of the outstretched arms above the head. It is a stream of memories recounted by the author, full of news of great heroes, great teams, and great events. They are all told with skill and care, and with the sensitivity of those who love football and consider it more than a simple sport, something that has to do with society, its values, its fragility and its contradictions: “Football is a kind of blotting paper.” Which absorbs everything that society soaks itself in. But they have a fundamental moral obligation: they must work to promote values. And he cannot give it up without paying the price of losing his very identity.” Cucci will present the book next Friday in Fermo, on two occasions: at 6 p.m., at the headquarters of ISRT Molini; at 8.45 p.m., at Fattoria Sociale Montepacini for a convivial dinner.
