East Hill and Rush Hour Routes to Be Rerouted Until End of July as Construction Continues
Prince Albert Transit has announced temporary service adjustments affecting several bus routes and transit stops as road construction continues across parts of the city. The changes, which began on Friday, July 24, are intended to maintain transit operations while crews carry out scheduled work on 15 Avenue East.
Transit riders are being advised to plan ahead, as both service frequency changes and route detours are expected to remain in place through the end of the month. City officials say the temporary measures are necessary to accommodate ongoing infrastructure improvements while minimizing disruptions to public transportation.
Hourly Service Introduced on Key Transit Routes
All Day and East Hill Routes Operating on Temporary Schedule
As of July 24, the All Day bus is operating on an hourly schedule, departing from the downtown transfer station at 15 minutes past each hour. The East Hill bus is also running hourly, with departures from the downtown transfer station at 45 minutes past each hour.
The temporary schedule replaces the regular service pattern and will remain in effect while construction-related restrictions continue. Passengers are encouraged to allow extra travel time and confirm departure times before beginning their trips.
Transit officials indicated that any further changes to the schedule will be communicated as soon as updated information becomes available.
Road Construction Triggers Route Detours
East Hill and Rush Hour Services Affected Beginning July 25
Starting Saturday, July 25, both the East Hill and Rush Hour transit routes are being rerouted because of roadwork taking place along 15 Avenue East.
The construction project has resulted in the temporary closure of several transit stops across the affected corridor. Riders who regularly use these locations will need to access alternative stops until the work is completed.
The following transit stops are temporarily closed:
- 15th Avenue East and 28th Street – Westbound
- 15th Avenue East and 28th Street – Eastbound
- 15th Avenue East and 22nd Street
- 28 Street East and 12 Avenue
- 28 Street East and Sherman Drive
- Crescent Acres Park Route on Olive Diefenbaker Drive
- Muzzy Drive and Pederson Crescent
- Muzzy Drive and Guy Drive
The temporary closures are designed to ensure passenger safety while construction crews carry out improvements in the area.
Temporary Stop Added for Rush Hour Service
Alternative Boarding Location Available During Construction
To reduce the impact on commuters, Prince Albert Transit has established a temporary boarding location for the Rush Hour bus.
The temporary transit stop is located on the northeast corner of 28 Street East and 12 Avenue and will remain in service for the duration of the roadwork. Passengers using the Rush Hour route are encouraged to use this temporary stop while the regular locations remain closed.
Construction is currently scheduled to continue until Friday, July 31, although timelines may change depending on project progress or weather conditions.
Transit Riders Encouraged to Monitor Service Updates
Prince Albert Transit is asking customers to stay informed by checking official transit updates before travelling. The agency noted that revised schedules or additional route adjustments will be published promptly if further changes become necessary during the construction period.
Until new information is released, the temporary hourly schedules, route detours and stop closures announced for late July will remain in effect.
The service adjustments are part of the city’s efforts to maintain reliable public transportation while supporting essential road infrastructure work, helping ensure transit operations continue safely throughout the construction period.
