Prime Video is increasing its investment in young adult entertainment with its largest international YA slate to date, adding movies and series from Spain, France, Germany, Italy and India as it looks to build on the global performance of titles including Off Campus, the Culpables franchise and Maxton Hall – The World Between Us.
The streaming service unveiled its upcoming programming at Obsessed Retreat: Class of ’26, a two-day event held September 7–8 in Germany’s Bavarian Alps. The showcase brought together actors and authors while offering screenings and first looks at projects scheduled for release through 2027.
Prime Video Targets Global Audiences With Locally Produced YA Stories
The expansion reflects Prime Video’s strategy of developing stories rooted in individual markets while seeking audiences beyond their countries of origin.
“We know that the audiences for our YA movies and series are shaping culture in real time — and they don’t just watch, they feel deeply, they obsess,” said Nicole Clemens, VP and Head of International Originals, Amazon MGM Studios. “What excites me most about this next wave is that it’s being led by non-English language International Originals. These are stories rooted in local culture with universal appeal, and we believe they’ll break out globally in the same way. The slate represents our biggest commitment yet to young adult audiences — and we’re just getting started.”
The strategy follows the international reach of YA programming such as The Summer I Turned Pretty, Off Campus, Culpables and Maxton Hall – The World Between Us.
New Projects Span European and Indian Markets
Among the upcoming releases is Spanish movie Drawn Together (Enfrentados: Marfil), based on Mercedes Ron’s novel and launching September 9. French production You+Me – Against the World (Toi + Moi – Seuls contre tous), adapted from Emma Green’s novels, follows on September 18.
U.S. movie The Love Hypothesis, starring Lili Reinhart and based on Ali Hazelwood’s bestselling novel, is scheduled for September 23.
Germany’s Drive – The Pretenders arrives October 28, while French series Campus Drivers and Spanish movie Perfect Liars (Perfectos Mentirosos) are scheduled for November.
Maxton Hall – The World Between Us returns for its third season on December 9. Prime Video described the German production as its most-watched International Original series.
Indian series Call Me Bae will also return for a second season, with its release listed as coming soon.
Authors and Cast Discuss Book-to-Screen Adaptations
Several upcoming productions are adaptations of novels that already have established online or international readerships, including titles associated with BookTok and Wattpad.
Speaking about Tell Me in Secret, author Mercedes Ron said: “The most important thing is the relationship that they [cast] have. They get along so well, and I think that translates to the movie. When they bring something personal to the characters, that’s when the magic happens.” She continued about Our Fault: London: “It’s my favourite book from the three, so it’s very special for me. Different, but in a good way. And the chemistry between [Asha and Matt] is amazing.”
Author C.S. Quill also discussed Carmen Kassovitz’s performance in Campus Drivers.
“Carmen brought so much to the role. She had this incredible way of showing emotions. Sometimes she doesn’t need to say anything — you know exactly what Lois is feeling. She took my character and she made her even more special. So now when I picture Lois, I see Carmen.”
Prime Video Reveals First Looks at 2027 Productions
The event included the first official images from Boys of Tommen, a UK series based on Chloe Walsh’s bestselling books, featuring Nancy Surridge as Shannon Lynch and Conor Sánchez as Johnny Kavanagh.
Prime Video also revealed images from Italian movie Love Me Love Me 2, scheduled for 2027, and Our Fault: London, the conclusion to the UK adaptation of Mercedes Ron’s Culpables trilogy.
Tell Me in Secret, the second instalment in Ron’s Dímelo trilogy, is expected in early 2027.
Cast members also discussed their upcoming productions. Ananya Panday (Call Me Bae): “She’s just a girl who’s defined by her labels, who’s very lost, who’s either a trophy wife or a trophy daughter, and she kind of wants to step out of all of that and create something for herself. Realising why she is the way she is made me find the love in her heart.”
Lisa-Marie Koroll (Drive – The Pretenders): “Every scene you will see in the movie is actually shot on a racing track. We went 160 kilometres per hour over the racing track during rain. It was crazy — basically like being in a roller coaster.”
YA Programming Becomes a Bigger Part of Prime Video’s International Strategy
The Bavarian Alps showcase follows Prime Video’s retreat in Ibiza last year and its inaugural Obsessed Fest fan event in Los Angeles in June 2026.
By combining established literary properties, internationally produced originals and fan-focused events, Prime Video is positioning young adult programming as a significant component of its international content strategy. The slate stretching into 2027 will provide an early test of whether locally developed YA franchises can continue translating existing book and online fandoms into global streaming audiences.
