Prime Video celebrated the premiere of its new Canadian Original docuseries, Hometown Giants, at the Langley Events Centre in British Columbia on October 15, 2026. The six-part series follows Canadian entertainer Michael Bublé and television personality and entrepreneur Drew Scott as they navigate the challenges of owning and rebuilding the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Giants.
The premiere brought together both part-owners for a red-carpet appearance and a post-screening discussion, highlighting the intersection of professional sports, entertainment and business management in Canadian junior hockey.
All six episodes are now available to stream globally, exclusively on Prime Video.
Michael Bublé and Drew Scott Attend Hometown Giants Premiere
The event took place at the Langley Events Centre, the home arena of the Vancouver Giants, providing a fitting setting for the documentary’s debut.
Bublé and Scott attended the premiere and participated in a question-and-answer session following the screening. The discussion was moderated by Todd Talbot, known for his work on Love It or List It Vancouver.
The event introduced audiences to a behind-the-scenes examination of the franchise, including the operational decisions and competitive pressures involved in managing a major junior hockey organization.
For Bublé and Scott, whose careers have largely developed in music, television and entrepreneurship, their involvement with the Giants represents a business venture closely connected to Canada’s hockey culture.
Docuseries Explores Vancouver Giants’ Efforts to Rebuild
Inside the 2025–26 Western Hockey League Season
Hometown Giants documents the Vancouver Giants throughout the 2025–26 season as the organization works toward returning to championship contention.
The franchise has not secured a championship since 2007, creating a central storyline around the owners’ efforts to improve the team’s competitive position.
The documentary follows Bublé and Scott as they work alongside a new head coach and general manager to address the challenges facing the organization.
Rather than focusing exclusively on games, the series examines the decisions made away from the ice that influence performance throughout a demanding hockey season.
These include roster adjustments, player trades, management strategies and the pressures associated with building a competitive team.
Management Decisions and Competitive Pressures
A central element of the series is the relationship between ownership, hockey operations and on-ice results.
The documentary captures how front-office decisions can influence a franchise’s direction, particularly when management is attempting to improve performance while navigating the realities of junior hockey.
The series also offers viewers insight into the responsibilities of team ownership, including leadership decisions and the uncertainty that accompanies a competitive season.
By following both the business and sporting sides of the organization, Hometown Giants presents a broader perspective on the operations of a Canadian junior hockey franchise.
Canadian Production Adds to Prime Video’s Original Programming
Hometown Giants is produced by Scott Brothers Entertainment in association with Amazon MGM Studios.
The production expands Prime Video’s Canadian Original programming portfolio while drawing on two recognizable Canadian entertainment figures and an established Western Hockey League franchise.
The series also reflects the growing overlap between sports programming and documentary entertainment, where access to team operations provides audiences with a perspective beyond traditional game coverage.
For the Vancouver Giants, the documentary creates an opportunity to reach viewers outside the team’s existing fan base, including international audiences who may be less familiar with Canadian major junior hockey.
