Prime Video September Schedule Opens With Thrillers and The Grand Tour
The month’s major releases begin September 2 with The Runner, a psychological thriller about London lawyer Maia Marten, whose son is kidnapped while she is on a morning run. She is forced to continue running and follow a series of instructions as she attempts to save him.
Signal One arrives September 3, following computer scientist Annika as she travels to an isolated facility housing LITTLEMOUTH, a machine capable of communicating with alien intelligence. True-crime series World’s Most Evil Women also begins streaming that day.
On September 4, The Grand Tour returns with a new presenting lineup. Francis Bourgeois joins James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, creators of the automotive YouTube channel Throttle House.
The trio’s adventures range from driving track cars through the Angolan desert to exploring Malaysian car culture and testing performance vehicles in California.
Canadian Original Operation Deception Examines Controversial Case
One of the most directly relevant additions for Canadian audiences is Operation Deception, a two-episode Canadian Original scheduled for September 11.
The documentary features journalist Patrick Lagacé and investigative reporter Victor Malarek examining the case of Alain Olivier, a Quebec forestry student struggling with drug addiction who was sent to death row in Thailand in 1989.
The series explores allegations involving police misconduct, drug trafficking and mistaken identity while examining whether Olivier was responsible for the crimes attributed to him or became a victim of entrapment.
Neagley Expands the Reacher Franchise
Prime Video will expand one of its established action franchises on September 16 with Neagley.
The spinoff follows Frances Neagley, a Chicago private investigator and former member of the U.S. Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit who previously served alongside Jack Reacher.
After discovering that a close friend from her past has died in suspicious circumstances, Neagley begins an investigation that puts her on a dangerous path toward uncovering a larger threat.
Romance Leads Prime Video’s Late-September Releases
International romance and drama will also feature prominently during the month.
Marfil: Drawn Together, arriving September 9, follows Marfil Cortés, the daughter of a Spanish business tycoon whose life changes after she is kidnapped and unexpectedly released. Her father assigns Sebastian Moore as her bodyguard, setting up a relationship that develops as new threats emerge.
You+Me – Against The World follows on September 18, centring on Alma Lancaster, an 18-year-old secretly pursuing filmmaking despite her wealthy family’s belief that she is studying law.
A major literary adaptation arrives September 23 with The Love Hypothesis, based on Ali Hazelwood’s New York Times bestselling novel. The story follows Ph.D. candidate Olive after an impulsive kiss with professor Adam Carlsen develops into a fake relationship that gradually becomes more complicated.
Other September film additions include Wildcat, In The Grey, Obsession and The Get Out.
WNBA and NWSL Add Live Sports to September Lineup
Live sports remain an important component of Prime Video’s September schedule.
WNBA coverage resumes September 19 following the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup break. The Chicago Sky will visit the Atlanta Dream at 7 p.m. ET, followed by the Seattle Storm against the Golden State Valkyries at 9 p.m. ET.
Prime Video will also exclusively carry one WNBA first-round playoff series beginning September 27, with matchups and times to be determined.
NWSL coverage includes four Friday matches during September, featuring clubs such as Kansas City Current, Orlando Pride, San Diego Wave, Gotham FC and Chicago Stars.
