Swedish Alternative Metal Band Expands Narrative Ahead of Upcoming Album Truthsayer
Swedish dark alternative metal band Outshine has released its latest single and music video, “You Are Not Alone,” continuing the group’s evolving narrative-driven approach to music and visual storytelling ahead of its upcoming full-length album Truthsayer.
The new single arrives alongside a cinematic music video directed by filmmaker Kenny Boufadene, known for previous collaborations with bands including Ice Age and Manimal. Filmed in Uddebo, Sweden, the production forms the second chapter in a planned four-part video series tied to the themes and concepts explored throughout Truthsayer, which is scheduled for release on June 26, 2026 through Eclipse Records.
The video continues the band’s established aesthetic of dark atmosphere, emotional introspection and social commentary, combining occult-inspired imagery with themes of alienation, division and resistance.
“You Are Not Alone” Tackles Global Division and Isolation
According to the band, the new track was inspired by growing social and political polarization observed worldwide over the past decade. Through both its lyrics and visual presentation, the song explores feelings of isolation experienced by individuals who feel disconnected from increasingly divisive public discourse.
Frontman Jimmy Boman described the song as a reflection on modern social fragmentation and the emotional consequences of ideological conflict.
“You Are Not Alone is a very dark song about the emptiness we feel when seeing how the world has evolved in the last 10 years ” explains vocalist Jimmy Boman. “I see how division is affecting people, how we are forced to pick sides. We feel lonely and abandoned with our thoughts on what is right or wrong. This is video 2 out of 4 connected videos. Overall, occult and secret gatherings are interesting and exciting to do videos on. Thematically, it is a about Reverend Boman, a character that has been around since the last album The Awakening and featured in It´s All Lies, Our Misery and It´s No Good. It is a direct continuation of the previous single Enough. The video shows the Reverend explaining how the darkness within us is killing us. But if we unite and evolve, we will see the truth. We gather to share the awakening elixir so that despite our differences, we wake up and see who is really dividing us…”
The recurring “Reverend Boman” character has become a central figure in Outshine’s recent creative direction, linking multiple releases into a broader conceptual storyline that blends dystopian imagery with themes of awakening and resistance.
Expanding the Narrative From Previous Singles
“You Are Not Alone” follows the release of the band’s earlier single “Enough,” continuing a thematic arc first introduced during the promotional cycle for the previous album The Awakening. The connected video series is expected to conclude sometime after the release of Truthsayer later this year.
Musically, the track combines heavy guitar work, atmospheric keyboards and layered vocal harmonies characteristic of Outshine’s dark alternative metal sound. The band’s approach balances melodic textures with aggressive rhythms, creating a soundscape intended to reflect the emotional tension embedded within the lyrics.
Truthsayer Positioned as a Socially Charged Concept Album
The upcoming album Truthsayer is being positioned as one of Outshine’s most ambitious releases to date. Featuring nine tracks, the record explores themes including media influence, authoritarianism, societal manipulation and psychological isolation.
The album combines dark lyrical subject matter with melodic arrangements and groove-oriented instrumentation. According to promotional material accompanying the release, the record aims to juxtapose messages of despair with themes of resilience and renewal.
Standout tracks on the album include “Enough,” “You Are Not Alone,” and “Emptiness Inside.” The album artwork, created by Jimmy Boman, reflects the project’s overarching themes of darkness and hope.
