Toronto, ON, October 6, 2026 – The Ontario Pay Equity Office (PEO) launches an interactive, web-based Workplace Pay Equity Toolkit. This tool is designed to make it easier for employers to understand and meet their pay equity obligations under Ontario’s Pay Equity Act. Under the Act, all public sector organizations in Ontario, and private sector organizations with ten or more employees, are required to comply with the Pay Equity Act.
The new interactive resource builds on the Office’s existing PDF toolkit, with newly integrated refinements based on feedback from employers and practitioners who accessed the toolkit. Re-designed to improve the overall user experience, the new web-based version of the tool guides employers through the pay equity process step by step, in a clear, practical, and easy-to-navigate format.
“Employers told us they wanted a tool that is more intuitive and easier to work with,” said Pay Equity Commissioner and CAO, Kadie Philp. “This interactive version keeps the substance of the original toolkit while improving the user experience.”
Designed to Support a Clear, Step-by-Step Process
The Workplace Pay Equity Toolkit follows Ontario’s established seven-step pay equity process for achieving pay equity helping employers move through each stage in a logical sequence, from identifying job classes to comparing work of equal value, determining whether pay equity adjustments are required, and maintaining pay equity. By breaking the process into manageable steps and providing prompts along the way, the tool helps employers stay organized, focused, and confident as they complete their pay equity analysis.
Privacy-Respecting and User-Controlled
The Workplace Pay Equity Toolkit was designed with privacy in mind. Information entered into the tool is not collected or stored by the Pay Equity Office. Any work completed in the tool remains under the user’s control and is not saved once the session ends, unless the user chooses to download a copy for their own records. This approach allows employers to benefit from an interactive online tool while maintaining control over their information.
