Voting Day Set for September 3, 2026 Following Election Writ Issued by Province
TORONTO — The Ontario government has officially called provincial by-elections in three electoral districts, setting the stage for voters in Scarborough Southwest, York—Simcoe and Hamilton East—Stoney Creek to choose their representatives in the provincial legislature.
A writ was issued on August 5, 2026, under Section 9.1 of the Election Act, formally beginning the by-election process in the three ridings. The announcement was made through the Premier’s Office as part of the province’s electoral procedures.
The upcoming votes will allow residents in the affected districts to elect new Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs) and determine representation at Queen’s Park.
