Toronto audiences will get a theatrical mashup of two entertainment icons this fall when Liberace & Liza – A Tribute arrives at TD Music Hall on Nov. 21, bringing piano virtuosity, musical theatre and comedy together in a two-hour stage production.
Presented by Massey Hall, the show stars David Saffert and Jillian Snow in a tribute inspired by pianist and entertainer Liberace and singer and actor Liza Minnelli. The performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. at TD Music Hall, located at 178 Victoria St. in downtown Toronto.
General ticket sales are scheduled to begin Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. ET, with membership pre-sales also available.
David Saffert and Jillian Snow Reimagine Two Entertainment Icons
Liberace and Minnelli never performed together, but Saffert and Snow have built their production around imagining what might have happened if the two flamboyant performers had shared a stage.
Saffert brings Liberace-inspired piano performances to the production, while Snow delivers the powerful vocals associated with Minnelli’s stage career. Their performances are combined with comedy built around the two characters competing for attention.
The show incorporates well-known songs including “Cabaret,” “New York, New York” and “Over the Rainbow.” Its repertoire also moves beyond songs traditionally associated with the two performers, with unexpected interpretations of material by artists including Lady Gaga and Britney Spears.
The production uses the contrasting personalities of its two central characters to create a performance that moves between concert, cabaret and comedy.

The production presents its two characters as theatrical personalities constantly attempting to command the spotlight, creating opportunities for playful competition and mischievous exchanges throughout the performance.
That format allows Saffert and Snow to move between musical numbers and comedic sequences while maintaining the exaggerated stage personas associated with the entertainers they portray.
British television personality Alan Carr praised the production’s comedic approach, saying, “Liberace & Liza had me literally howling with laughter. Pure Perfection! This dynamic duo will have you bent double in hysterics!!”
Toronto Performance Follows International Festival Recognition
The Toronto appearance follows performances that have generated attention from theatre critics and festival audiences internationally.
During its West End run, The Reviews Hub awarded the production five stars and described it as “two hours of pure, riotous joy.” Musical Theatre Review gave the production four stars, highlighting Saffert and Snow’s comedic timing and their interpretations of Liberace and Minnelli.
The production also appeared at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where organizers said it received 16 five-star reviews and was voted the No. 2 show among hundreds of productions.
The Toronto engagement brings the show to one of the city’s newer live entertainment venues. TD Music Hall operates within Allied Music Centre and hosts concerts, comedy, community programming and other live performances.
