Joint press release by Schiavigny USA, Diavoli Sesto and Hockey Como

The Lombardia Under 19 team for the upcoming 2023/24 competitive season is presented to all athletes and their parents at the PalaSesto facility.

It is an important step, after the positive experience that was made together last season with the U-17 category, the managers of the Lombard companies with interest and pride in their ability to develop youth hockey, decided by mutual agreement to jointly continue this experience for the U-19 next season.

Approximately 16 athletes in action and 4 goalkeepers between the ages of (2005-2006-2007) will be available to coach Andrea Di Zordo, assisted by Danilo Bertoto and senior team coaches Diavoli Sesto and Hockey Como. If necessary, 14 more athletes from 2008.

These are decent numbers for a top-level national tournament that will feature at least 26 matches throughout the season.

The most deserving boys over the age of 16 can also be called up to Como’s first teams in the IHL Championship and Diavoli Sesto in IHL 1.

It is an important step for our sport, last year there were no under-19s in Lombardy, and from our point of view it is an important category for the sustainability of the top teams in Chiavenna, Como and Sesto. The home matches will be played at the stadiums of Chiavenna, Como and Sesto San Giovanni.

The head of the FIBA Regional Committee expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the companies involved in the project, praising their commitment and appreciation for the spirit of cooperation and development of hockey in Lombardy.
