Lucasfilm has released the new trailer for Indiana Jones 5 – titled “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” the first to feature the Disney logo. Some scenes of the fifth act of the epic are filmed in Sicily: from Segesta, in the Trapani region, then moving to Cefalù and between Noto and Syracuse. The film’s release date is set for June 28 in Italy.
The first scenes were filmed in October 2021 in the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, in particular in the Ear of Dionysus and in the Grotta dei Cordari, and then in Castello Maniacci, in the historic center of Ortigia. Ropes, steep wooden ladders, chase through tunnels, even scenarios unique to Syracuse: the archaeologist (his thrilling double) seems to be tested. Here the ear of Dionysus turns into a mine and the castle of Maniachi is the heart of many scenes shot between the mainland and the sea with stunning special effects: fake explosions, smoke and gunshots.
Besides Harrison Ford, the film’s cast includes Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shawnette Renee Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Oliver Richers, Ethan Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen. The film is directed by James Mangold and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Simon Emanuel, with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas as executive producers. The soundtrack was once again composed by John Williams, who has scored every Indiana Jones adventure since the original Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981.
