Ferrari: here is Purosangue, Maranello’s first four-door – Tests and News

It is longer, with four doors, four comfortable seats and also has a modular trunk. It’s the Ferrari you wouldn’t expect, the Purosangue, that drives like no other Ferrari and that has a comfort hitherto unknown to a Prancing Horse sports car thanks to the introduction of Active Suspension, which is quite unique.
Measuring almost 5 meters long, just under 1.60 high and 2028 mm wide, the Purosangue is the first four-door four-seater from the Maranello house and is powered by the iconic 6496 cc V12 engine derived from the 812 Superfast. Engine capable of unleashing 725 HP at 7,750 rpm with a maximum torque of 716 Nm at 6,250 rpm. The remarkable work developed by Maranello’s engineers has ensured that 80% of this torque is already available from 2,100 rpm, guaranteeing unique driving sensations in all conditions of use.

The Purosangue is high off the ground but also manages to retain the typical characteristics of high-performance Prancing Horse cars with the central engine located at the front mated to an 8-speed DCT dual-clutch gearbox at the rear. All this allows for an ideal weight distribution of 49% in the front and 51% in the rear. A perfect balance ensures top-level performance with a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 10.6 seconds and a top speed of over 310 km/h.
We were able to prove all these qualities during an international test drive along the mountain roads of the Brenta Dolomites in Trentino, including Trento-Bondone where the oldest and longest car and motorcycle uphill trial takes place. What amazed and amazed us was the versatility of the Purosangue that allows sharing the experience of traveling in a Ferrari, adapting to asphalt as well as snow-covered roads and dirt roads, and imparting safety and comfort to passengers. She can be calm and aristocratic like Berlinetta and fierce and powerful when called for.

Ferrari Purosangue, Maranello’s first four-door

Despite its nearly five-meter length in the winding roads of the Trentino mountains, it proves to be very agile thanks to its four independent steering wheels. But the most innovative solution was the introduction of active suspension systems called Ferrari Active Suspension technology, a system that includes four electric motors – one for each suspension – capable of regulating load transfer and roll when cornering, as well as contact between the wheels and the ground. at high frequencies, for a performance and driving feel comparable only to those offered by Maranello sports cars. And along a completely snow-covered track, we were able to appreciate the work done by these suspensions that guarantee exceptional grip. The habitability is also great: for the first time in Ferrari history, there are real four seats and the rear seats can be independently adjusted and reclined. In the tilting configuration, they are born one level with the trunk, which increases loading capacity. All seats are heated electronically, and the front seats are also massaged. Another feature is the rear doors that open and close completely automatically unlike the front doors. This solution provides a great versatility of entering and exiting the vehicle and also allows for a significant increase in performance: the windproof doors, in fact, made it possible not to lengthen the wheelbase too much.

On the other hand, the Purosangue’s driver’s seat is inspired by that of the SF90 Stradale and finds almost symmetrical ego on the passenger side. This creates an unparalleled engagement for the front passenger, thanks to the 10.2-inch screen that allows you to get all the information useful to participate in the driving experience. Another great innovation in the car interior is the sound developed in collaboration with Burmester with 21 speakers including a subwoofer with a power of 1420 watts. The main feature of the system is the sound bar which guarantees exceptional sound. Central instrument panel with rotary physical control with display Display in the middle for temperature adjustment and ventilation and seat adjustment adjustment To reduce weight, carbon fiber was used extensively and the ‘base’ roof was also of this material, but also available in suggestive crystal that changes opacity depending on the lighting conditions.

Thoroughbred, four-door Ferrari with high wheels

There are also several Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) found in the Ferrari Purosangue, many of which were developed in collaboration with Bosch. In particular, among others we find Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Automatic High Beam (HBA / HBAM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA ), blind spot detection (BSD) and rear view camera (NSW). Finally, HDC (Hill Descent Control) is available for the first time on a Ferrari, allowing you to maintain a constant speed set on the dashboard display even on steep roads or with poor grip.
In short, the Ferrari Purosangue represents a new chapter in the history of the racing horse. With its rugged design, powerful engine and wide array of cutting-edge technologies, the Purosangue is set to become one of the most iconic cars of the 21st century.
