An important evening in the 2023 Alpine Hockey League playoffs. Two Italian teams on the ice in two really exciting matches. In fact, Renon beat Kitzbuehel in overtime and got the score 3-2 in the series, while Cortina got the first point of the match against Lustenau and took advantage after a fight that ended in extra time.
Rittner Buam-EC Kitzbuehel 3-2 after overtime (Series 3-2): At the Ritten Arena, it was the hosts who opened the score thanks to Quinz’s goal after 11:14 after a pass from Insam. The guests equalized 11 seconds into the second half for Lahnvik, but Renon promptly took the lead again at 24:56 with Costner assisting with an assist from Cardwell. Kitzbuehel doesn’t give up and comes back to tie the game at 51:17 with Bolterle’s 2-2, dragging the game into overtime. Poultrell took care of that after just 77 seconds to give South Tyrol the win.
SGC Cortina-EHC Lustenau 3-2 after extra time (Series 4-1): At the Stadio Olimpico, it was Lustenau who opened the score with a Wilfan goal after only 102 seconds of play, but Cortina was unfazed, leveling the score at 20:40 with Lacedelli, before Saha put the Ampezzo players ahead 2 1 at 28:19. The Austrians are trying to get back on par and succeed in the final. Minute 56:12 and Larsen scores 2-2, which takes the match to overtime. Extra time becomes a battle and Cortina can only close the scores in the 78th minute: o3 with a goal from Traversa that gives success and sequence to the Ampezzo players.
