Southeastern Wisconsin heavy rock band Carbellion has released a new single and music video, “I Don’t Want to Be Your Dog,” offering the first major preview of its forthcoming full-length album, This Is Our Style.
The album is scheduled for release on November 13, 2026, through rock and metal label Eclipse Records. The 11-track project follows the group’s 2023 album, Weapons of Choice, and continues a career that has stretched across more than two decades in the American underground heavy rock scene.
New Carbellion Video Focuses on Personal Liberation
The music video for “I Don’t Want to Be Your Dog” was directed by Kenny Boufadene of Studio Meltdown and filmed at the Dogs 2 Dog Tags charity training facility in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
The facility trains rescued and donated dogs before pairing them with veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. Within that setting, Carbellion uses imagery involving a dog cage, dramatic lighting and heavy visual filters to reinforce themes of personal transformation and breaking away from destructive behaviour.
The song itself examines the pressure of performing for others while sacrificing self-respect, particularly within the expectations surrounding the rock lifestyle. It explores a point at which reckless behaviour and the desire to entertain are replaced by a focus on self-preservation.
“I Don’t Want to Be Your Dog” is planned as the first of three music videos connected to the upcoming album.
Cameron Kellenberger Explains the Video Concept
Vocalist Cameron Kellenberger said the band considered the energetic track an appropriate introduction to the new record.
“We felt that choosing this song as the first single was a great way to introduce the new album to everyone with our up-tempo rock n’ roll style and high energy delivery.” explains vocalist Cameron Kellenberger. “We’ve always liked the training facility at Dogs 2 Dog Tags as it’s a big room with a giant American flag displayed where they train rescued and donated dogs, giving them to veterans diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. As most know, we herald our self-defined style as American Heavy Rock so it just felt right to be standing directly in front of a giant American flag. Also, filming myself in a manic state inside a dog cage serves as a visual nod to several themes that have long been part of the band’s identity, while also tying metaphorically to the song itself. At a high level, the lyrics explore the idea of outgrowing the need to be the center of attention and entertainment for others through reckless, self-destructive behavior. To reinforce those themes visually, we used dramatic lighting to create deep shadows throughout many of the shots. Kenny from Studio Meltdown then applied heavy, dirt-style filters during the editing process, giving the video a gritty, raw atmosphere that perfectly complements the song’s message and sound.”
‘This Is Our Style’ Extends Carbellion’s Heavy Rock Sound
Formed in 2004, Carbellion has developed its sound around a combination of traditional heavy rock, desert rock and stoner sludge influences. The band currently consists of Brandon Bauer on guitar, Cameron Kellenberger on vocals, Brent Nimz on drums, Jamie Damrow on lead guitar and Steve Sheppard on bass.
This Is Our Style will feature 10 original compositions and a cover of “Open Up Your Eyes,” originally recorded by alternative rock band Tonic.
Among the album’s key tracks is its title song, “This Is Our Style,” which emphasizes the band’s identity and its enthusiasm for loud amplification, fast cars and high-energy rock music. Another track, “Get Down,” is positioned as a thematic successor to “Barfight” from Weapons of Choice.
Production Team Brings Extensive Rock Experience
Carbellion produced the album alongside Chris Djuricic, whose credits include work with Nonpoint, Soil and Jungle Rot, at Belle City Sound. Andy VanDette, whose previous credits include Beastie Boys, Porcupine Tree and Rush, handled mastering at Evolve Mastering. Chris Schultz created the album artwork.
The full track list includes “I Don’t Want To Be Your Dog,” “What You Want,” “This Is Our Style,” “Open Up Your Eyes,” “Get Down,” “Doom Cult,” “Seaworthy,” “Currency In Agony,” “Pound For Pound,” “Westerns” and “Dire Wolf Straights.”
With the new single now released, Carbellion is beginning the rollout toward This Is Our Style, positioning the record as the next stage in a heavy rock career that began in southeastern Wisconsin in 2004 and has continued through touring and independent releases across the American underground scene.
