ARMSTRONG, British Columbia — Armstrong MetalFest is preparing for its 2027 edition, with the deadline for bands to submit applications closing October 15, 2026. The annual heavy metal festival will return to Hassen Arena in Armstrong, British Columbia, on July 16 and 17, 2027, bringing Canadian and international performers to the North Okanagan.
Organized by the non-profit West Metal Entertainment, the festival has developed into a recurring summer attraction for heavy metal enthusiasts. Its programming combines live music, camping and entertainment activities, attracting visitors from across Canada and the United States.
Armstrong MetalFest Opens Opportunities for 2027 Performers
Organizers are inviting bands to apply for consideration in the upcoming festival lineup through the official submission portal. The October 15 deadline marks an important stage in preparations for next summer’s event.
The 2027 festival follows a 2026 edition headlined by Rivers of Nihil and Dying Fetus. Other participating acts included Cyborg Octopus, Into Eternity, Fervence, Vintersea, Lycanthro, Iron Kingdom, Odinfist and Art of Attrition.
The festival’s continued development reflects its established position within Western Canada’s independent heavy metal scene, where regional performers share stages with nationally and internationally recognized artists.
2026 Festival Reported Record Attendance
According to coverage cited by organizers, the 2026 festival attracted its largest audience to date.
The Vernon Morning Star and Penticton Western News described the event:
“Armstrong MetalFest hits all the right notes… The music was loud, but the impact echoed far beyond the fairgrounds. Armstrong MetalFest’s 16th year reached new heights, drawing the largest crowds in the festival’s history for two unforgettable days of world-class heavy metal music, camping, and community in the North Okanagan.”
Organizers have not yet announced the confirmed lineup for 2027. Interested performers can submit applications through the festival’s official website.
Festival Tickets, Camping and Visitor Arrangements
Ticket details for Armstrong MetalFest 2027 will be announced at a later date.
According to the organizers, festival admission arrangements will include access to the arena, festival grounds and designated camping areas. Free camping is included with admission, while certain vehicle and recreational vehicle arrangements require additional passes.
Visitors planning to bring vehicles into designated camping areas must purchase the appropriate weekend vehicle pass. Recreational vehicle spaces with hookups provide access to water and electricity.
Vehicles parked in the main parking lot outside the camping area do not require a separate camping vehicle pass.
The festival is scheduled for July 16–17, with camping arrangements extending into the following morning.
North Okanagan Tourism and Local Economic Activity
Armstrong MetalFest brings visitors to the North Okanagan for a weekend of music and outdoor activities.
Festival attendance creates opportunities for local businesses, including accommodation providers, food retailers and other visitor-oriented services. However, organizers have not released specific economic impact estimates for the 2027 event.
The festival also provides a platform for independent musicians and regional entertainment businesses.
Beyond live performances, its programming has traditionally included wrestling exhibitions, scavenger hunts and other activities designed to encourage interaction among attendees.
West Metal Entertainment Continues Support for Independent Music
Armstrong MetalFest began in 2009 and has operated for much of the period since, excluding interruptions in 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the years, the event has hosted performers including Kataklysm, Cattle Decapitation, Archspire, Nekrogoblikon, Origin, Warbringer, Fallujah, Striker, Beyond Creation, Born of Osiris and Havok.
West Metal Entertainment also organizes performances at other regional venues, including all-ages events intended to support music participation among younger audiences.
The non-profit’s activities extend beyond its annual festival, contributing to opportunities for musicians and audiences throughout the region.
