Amazon MGM Studios celebrated the world premiere of Love Of Your Life at Toronto’s Royal Alexandra Theatre on Sept. 13, bringing director Rachel Morrison and members of the film’s cast and creative team to the city for the International Film Festival.
The romantic drama, starring Margaret Qualley alongside Aaron Pierre, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Basso and Catherine Keener, is scheduled to open in select theatres on Oct. 7 before becoming available globally on Prime Video on Oct. 14.
‘Love Of Your Life’ Makes World Premiere in Toronto
The Toronto premiere brought together several of the film’s leading cast members, including Qualley, Pierre, Schwarzenegger, Basso and Keener.
Morrison, whose directing credits include The Fire Inside, also attended, along with screenplay writer Julia Cox and producer Jessie Henderson. Following the screening, guests attended a post-premiere event at Soho House Toronto.
The Toronto launch gives Amazon MGM Studios a high-profile festival platform ahead of the film’s theatrical and streaming releases in October.
The production is scheduled to follow a hybrid release strategy, beginning with a limited theatrical run before reaching Prime Video audiences worldwide one week later.
Margaret Qualley Leads Romantic Drama as Maya
Love Of Your Life follows Maya, played by Qualley, as an unexpected encounter with Charlie, portrayed by Basso, develops into a major romantic relationship.
The story follows the couple toward a future Maya had not anticipated before events suddenly change her circumstances. She is then forced to navigate a different life while confronting questions about her identity, ambitions and ability to find love again.
The film’s cast also includes Tamara Lawrance and Corey Johnson.
Morrison directs from a screenplay by Cox. Ryan Gosling and Henderson serve as producers.
Creative Team Includes Established Film Industry Talent
Behind the camera, Love Of Your Life brings together contributors working across music, cinematography, editing, costume and production design.
Dustin O’Halloran composed the film’s music, while Todd Banhazl served as director of photography. Jennifer Vecchiarello edited the film, Jill Taylor handled costume design and Laura Ellis Cricks served as production designer.
The project marks another feature directing credit for Morrison, an accomplished cinematographer as well as a filmmaker. Her involvement, combined with the ensemble cast and Amazon MGM Studios distribution, positions the movie as one of the studio’s notable releases heading into the fall entertainment season.
Toronto Premiere Comes Ahead of October Release
Toronto remains an important North American destination for studios introducing new films ahead of their wider theatrical and streaming releases. Festival premieres can provide productions with early audience exposure and industry attention before commercial distribution begins.
For Love Of Your Life, the Toronto event comes less than a month before its Oct. 7 theatrical debut.
The film will then make the transition to streaming on Oct. 14, when Prime Video will release it globally.

The release will add Love Of Your Life to Prime Video’s broader entertainment catalogue, which includes Amazon MGM Studios originals, licensed films and television series, and live sports.
In Canada, the service also carries sports programming that includes NHL, NBA, WNBA and PWHL content. Prime Video additionally serves as a platform through which customers can access a range of third-party streaming subscriptions.
The combination of a theatrical window and subsequent global streaming release reflects the increasingly varied distribution strategies used by major studios to reach both cinema audiences and at-home viewers.
For Amazon MGM Studios, the Toronto premiere provides an early showcase for the project ahead of that rollout.

Following its world premiere in Toronto, Love Of Your Life will move into its commercial release phase in October, first appearing in select theatres on Oct. 7 and then reaching Prime Video globally on Oct. 14.
