Ontario has opened a new long-term care home in Milton, adding 192 spaces for seniors while creating hundreds of construction and permanent jobs in the growing Halton Region community.
The Village of Ridgeview Court, operated by Schlegel Villages Inc., officially opened with provincial support through Ontario’s construction funding subsidy top-up. The three-storey facility is designed to provide residents with modern accommodation, health-care support and community-focused amenities.
“Our government is investing over $236 billion in our plan to build hospitals, long-term care, roads, schools and other critical infrastructure so we can create good-paying jobs, protect workers and connect families to the high-quality care that they deserve,” said Premier Doug Ford. “Today’s grand opening means an additional 192 residents in Milton will have access to a world-class long-term care home for decades to come.”
New Milton Facility Designed Around Smaller Resident Areas
The Village of Ridgeview Court is organized into six “resident home areas,” with each accommodating up to 32 people. The smaller areas include their own dining and activity spaces, lounges and bedrooms, creating a more familiar residential setting within the larger facility.
All bedrooms in the home are private. The development also includes a “main street” common area intended to provide space for programming, visitors and broader community engagement.
Amenities include a library, spiritual centre, café, community centre and hair salon.
“The opening of the new Village of Ridgeview Court marks a major milestone in our government’s plan to protect residents and expand the availability of high-quality health care across the province,” said Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister of Long-Term Care. “Now that construction is complete, 192 residents in Milton have a safe and modern place to call home.”
Project Creates Construction and Permanent Jobs
Beyond expanding Milton’s long-term care capacity, the project has contributed to local employment. Construction supported more than 250 jobs, while the operating facility is expected to sustain 200 permanent positions.
Those roles include employment in nursing, personal support work, nutrition services, resident programming and administration.

The opening of The Village of Ridgeview Court is a major win for Milton families, ensuring local residents receive the high-quality, compassionate care they deserve right here in our community, close to their loved ones. Milton Mayor Gordon Krantz said the additional capacity comes as the municipality continues to experience growth.

Ontario Continues Long-Term Care Expansion
Ridgeview Court forms part of a multi-phase development that is expected to eventually include additional seniors’ care, accommodation and outreach programs.
The province has committed to building 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care spaces across Ontario. As of July 2026, 165 projects representing 26,421 new and redeveloped spaces had either been completed, were under construction or had received ministry approval to begin construction.
Ontario is also using its 2025 Long-Term Care Home Capital Funding Policy to account for regional construction costs and different operator requirements. Other measures include using surplus provincial properties and hospital-owned land for new long-term care developments.
Focus on Community-Based Care
James Schlegel, president and CEO of Schlegel Villages, said the Milton facility was designed around quality of life as well as care.

This home carries forward the legacy of the late Ron Schlegel, founder of Schlegel Villages, whose lifelong commitment to a holistic approach to better care helped shape a richer vision of aging. It is a fitting tribute to his belief that older adults deserve every opportunity to live with dignity, purpose and belonging.”
With the Milton home now open, the province is continuing its broader long-term care construction program aimed at increasing capacity while replacing and modernizing older facilities across Ontario.
