Investment supports long-term recreation services and community fundraising campaign at Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre
The Wyant Group has donated $100,000 to support the sponsorship of a new ice resurfacer at the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre, providing a significant boost to one of Prince Albert’s busiest recreational facilities.
The City of Prince Albert announced the contribution, highlighting the donation as an investment in maintaining high-quality ice conditions for the thousands of residents, athletes, families and visitors who use the facility throughout the year.
The ice resurfacer is one of the centre’s most important pieces of equipment, ensuring safe and consistent ice surfaces for a wide range of activities, including public skating, hockey, figure skating and community events.
Donation strengthens community recreation
City officials said the contribution extends beyond funding equipment, helping preserve a recreation space that plays an important role in bringing the community together.
“This contribution goes far beyond equipment. It is an investment in community life. Every day, the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre brings people together through sport, recreation, and connection. This donation helps ensure that experience continues for years to come,” said Dawn Kilmer, City Councillor.
The Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre serves as a major recreation hub for Prince Albert and the surrounding region, attracting thousands of users each month. The facility offers year-round opportunities for recreation and organized sport, making reliable ice maintenance essential to its operations.
By supporting the sponsorship of the ice resurfacer, the donation will help ensure the facility continues to provide quality skating surfaces for community programming and sporting events while supporting a positive experience for visitors.
Wyant Group continues community investment
The City recognized the Wyant Group’s longstanding commitment to Saskatchewan through its business activities, employment opportunities and community support initiatives.
Municipal officials expressed appreciation for the company’s ongoing investment in local communities, noting that partnerships with private-sector organizations help strengthen public recreation infrastructure and improve access to recreational opportunities.
The latest contribution reflects the company’s continued involvement in supporting projects that benefit residents across Saskatchewan while reinforcing its presence as a community-focused business.
Play It Forward campaign builds support for leisure centre
The sponsorship also aligns with the broader Play It Forward campaign, a community-led fundraising initiative dedicated to supporting the Lake Country Co-op Leisure Centre.
The campaign relies on donations from local businesses, organizations and residents to enhance the facility and ensure it remains a welcoming destination for people of all ages. Funds raised through the initiative help create and maintain spaces where the community can participate in swimming, skating and other recreational activities.
City officials said contributions through the campaign are helping secure the long-term future of one of Prince Albert’s key public recreation facilities, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of current and future generations.
The Wyant Group’s donation represents another milestone for the fundraising effort and demonstrates how partnerships between municipalities and the private sector can contribute to maintaining essential community infrastructure. As the Play It Forward campaign continues, local support is expected to play an important role in enhancing recreational amenities and promoting healthy, active lifestyles across the region.
