Close to the podium in the team relay
The first team relay of the season also took place on an Italian night. After dominating Whistler for an entire weekend or so, Germany finishes the job by taking home the team-relay. Julia Taubits, Felix Loch and Eggert/Benecken finished in a time of 2:04.222 at the Teutonic home start. Behind them is Latvia with Vitola, Aberjots and Pots/Blume at 147k. Austria is erratic and disappointing: vice-Olympic champions Egle, Kindl and Gatt/Schopenhauer are 727 behind in third place. In a race that initially featured only six teams Italy finished fourth, missing out on the podium by just two thousand. Azzurri with Andrea Votter, Dominik Bischneller and Ryder/Kainswaldner by Austrians.
