Football: Regina acquits Agility and Toscano – Calcio expected to return

(ANSA) – Reggio Calabria, Dec 13 – Regina Football Club has announced that it has sacked coach Alfredo Agletti. After the fifth consecutive defeat of the Al-Qatif team, four of which matured on their own soil, and the last, yesterday with Alexandria, ended with a score of 4-0, the departure of the Al-Qatifia coach is now a foregone conclusion. “We sincerely thank Mr. Aglietti for the commitment and professionalism he has shown in recent months,” the news came in a press release from the club.

Aglietti, originally from San Giovanni Valdarno (Arezzo) was signed on May 31 with a contract linking him to the Amaranth team until June 30, 2023. His return to Reggio Calabria was greeted with enthusiasm by the fans. As a player he left a beautiful memory in Reggio: 32 games and 20 goals in the 1994/94 Championship, and in the Second Division, the following year, with 18 goals in 37 games. A success he could not replicate as a coach. After a good start, with the team approaching the top of the second division standings, which made the fans dream, a long losing streak with a team that has shown itself in chaos in recent weeks.

There are many names on the list to replace him, but the most approved name currently is that of Mimmo Toscano, who is still under contract with Reggina for Luca Gallo president. The protagonist in promotion to Serie B, he was then sacked in December 2020, after the defeat at home to Venice for 2 to 1. He was replaced by Florentine Marco Baroni who remained at the helm of the amaranth until the end of the 2020 / 2021 championship. (Deals).
