Calgary-based five-piece Godfall is preparing to take its latest material on the road this September, announcing a four-date Western Canadian tour alongside the release of its new single, “Default.”
The run will take the band through Alberta and British Columbia, including Godfall’s first performance in Kelowna. The tour begins September 19 and continues through September 27, with stops in Edmonton, Red Deer and the band’s home city of Calgary.
The new single focuses on the emotional strain of repetitive routines, obligations and burnout, with the band presenting the song as a reminder to remain engaged with life rather than continually postponing personal growth and reflection.
Godfall Brings “Default” to Western Canadian Stages
Godfall will open the tour on September 19 at Unleashed Brewing in Kelowna, B.C., marking the band’s debut performance in the city. The group will then travel to Edmonton for a September 25 show at Rendez Vous Pub, followed by The Vat in Red Deer on September 26.
The tour concludes September 27 at Rec Room in Calgary.
Guitarist Omer Khan said live performances remain an important way for the band to connect directly with its audience as it introduces new music.
“Godfall will be hitting the road to cover Alberta and making our BC debut in Kelowna to support our new single, Default’s release. We know the best way to still connect with fans old and new is by playing live, singing, and moshing together, and we are more than excited to bring our signature energy to new stages!” adds guitarist Omer Khan.

The dates give the Calgary group an opportunity to expand its audience beyond its home market while supporting the release of “Default.”
“Default” Explores Burnout and Life on Autopilot
The new track examines the repetitive nature of daily life and the feeling of becoming trapped in a cycle of tasks and responsibilities. Its theme centres on the idea that constantly focusing on what needs to be completed next can leave little opportunity for personal reflection or unexpected experiences.
Like the band’s previous material, “Default” emerged through a collaborative songwriting process involving the full group.
Khan developed the initial riff and musical direction, providing the foundation for the track. Vocalists Karina Khristova and Abel Boban subsequently developed lyrics and vocal melodies intended to complement the tension and emotional shifts within the instrumentation.
Godfall says its songwriting process is deliberately flexible, with members refining, changing or removing ideas depending on what works best for the finished track.
International Background Shapes Godfall’s Sound
Each of Godfall’s five members comes from a different country and speaks a different first language, giving the Calgary group a broad range of musical and cultural influences.
The current lineup consists of Khan on guitar, Khristova on clean vocals, Boban on dirty vocals, Keith Capili on bass and Andrew Kruschin on drums.
Musically, the group combines heavy instrumentation with melody and emotionally driven songwriting. Its sound has drawn comparisons with bands including Spiritbox, Evanescence, Bring Me the Horizon, Bad Omens and Linkin Park.
“Default” continues that approach, moving through anger, melancholy and melodic passages as Godfall works to further develop its musical identity.
“I think Default will be a pleasant surprise since we are constantly refining our sound and working on our songwriting skills. Ultimately, we want our fans to have a Godfall song for any kind of day, whether annoyed, sad, happy, or motivated. We want them to be able to sing along and headbang at the same time,” says Karina Khristova (Clean Vocals).
Godfall Looks to Build Audience Through Live Shows
The September tour represents the next stage in Godfall’s efforts to introduce its evolving sound to audiences across Western Canada.
With its first Kelowna appearance and three Alberta performances scheduled, the band is using the release of “Default” to strengthen its presence on the regional live-music circuit while continuing to develop new material.
The single is available through major digital music platforms, while a lyric video has also been released online.
