Calgary-based heavy music band Godfall is expanding its reach across Western Canada with a series of October tour dates supporting its latest single, “Default,” as the five-member group continues to develop its sound and build connections with audiences through live performances.
The new track focuses on the repetitive pressures of everyday life, exploring burnout, obligations and the feeling of operating on autopilot. Godfall positions the song as a reminder to pay attention to the present rather than continually postponing personal fulfilment until another task or responsibility is completed.
The release will be supported by four performances across British Columbia and Alberta, including the band’s first appearance in Kelowna.
Godfall Plans October Tour Across Alberta and British Columbia
Godfall will begin the Western Canadian run on Oct. 19 at Unleashed Brewing in Kelowna, marking the band’s British Columbia debut.
The group will then return to Alberta for three consecutive performances later in the month. Godfall is scheduled to play Rendez Vous Pub in Edmonton on Oct. 25, The Vat in Red Deer on Oct. 26 and the Rec Room in Calgary on Oct. 27.
The tour gives the Calgary band an opportunity to introduce “Default” to audiences in a live setting while extending its presence beyond its home market.

‘Default’ Explores Burnout and Life on Autopilot
The band’s latest single takes a more introspective approach while maintaining the heavier musical elements associated with Godfall.
The song examines the cycle of completing tasks and meeting obligations without leaving enough space for personal reflection, change or unexpected experiences. Its theme centres on recognizing that life continues even while people remain focused on completing their next responsibility.
Like the band’s previous material, “Default” was developed collaboratively.
Khan introduced the initial riff and musical direction, providing a foundation that helped shape the track. Vocalists Karina Khristova and Abel Boban subsequently developed lyrics, melodies and vocal arrangements intended to complement the tension and emotional shifts in the instrumentation.
Collaborative Songwriting Shapes Godfall’s Developing Sound
Godfall describes its songwriting process as fluid and democratic, with all five members contributing to how material develops. Ideas can be revised extensively or removed altogether when the musicians determine they do not strengthen the finished track.
That process has become an important part of the band’s effort to refine its musical identity.
Godfall’s lineup brings together musicians from different countries and linguistic backgrounds, giving the group a range of musical and cultural influences. Its material combines heavy instrumentation with melody, contrasting vocal styles and emotionally driven songwriting.
The band’s sound may appeal to listeners of acts including Spiritbox, Evanescence, Bring Me the Horizon, Bad Omens and Linkin Park, while Godfall continues working toward an identity of its own.
Band Aims to Create Music for Different Moods
“Default” moves between anger, melancholy and more melodic passages, reflecting the band’s broader objective of creating songs that can connect with listeners across different emotional states.
“I think Default will be a pleasant surprise since we are constantly refining our sound and working on our songwriting skills. Ultimately, we want our fans to have a Godfall song for any kind of day, whether annoyed, sad, happy, or motivated. We want them to be able to sing along and headbang at the same time,” said Khristova, who performs clean vocals.
The current Godfall lineup consists of Khan on guitar, Khristova on clean vocals, Boban on dirty vocals, Keith Capili on bass and Andrew Kruschin on drums.
Western Canada Shows Support Godfall’s Next Stage
The combination of a new single and regional tour represents another step in Godfall’s efforts to grow its audience in Western Canada. The Kelowna performance expands the band’s live footprint into British Columbia, while shows in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary reinforce its Alberta base.
With “Default,” the Calgary five-piece is continuing to refine a sound built around heavy music, melodic contrasts and personal storytelling while emphasizing live performances as a central part of its relationship with listeners.
The October dates will give audiences across the region their first opportunity to hear the new material as Godfall takes its latest phase of songwriting from the studio to the stage.
