Canadian children’s musician Chris McKhool has released a Halloween-themed single, “On Halloween,” ahead of his upcoming album Global Dance Party!, scheduled for October 30, 2026. The release coincides with a family concert and album launch celebration in Toronto, featuring live music, a costume contest, prizes and activities for children.
The new track combines theatrical storytelling, retro-inspired instrumentation and dance rhythms to create a Halloween experience aimed at younger audiences. It marks the third single from McKhool’s forthcoming album, which explores musical traditions and encourages participation through movement and storytelling.
‘On Halloween’ Combines Spooky Storytelling With Family-Friendly Music
The song introduces listeners to a fictional Halloween setting populated by cats, witches, pumpkins, werewolves, ghosts and trick-or-treaters.
Opening with guitar riffs reminiscent of classic suspense films, the recording develops through scenes of witches casting spells, pumpkins glowing in the darkness and unexpected visitors arriving in search of candy.
An old-fashioned pumpkin chase, scat singing and a rhythmic trick-or-treat finale add theatrical elements while maintaining a lighthearted atmosphere suitable for children.
Retro Instruments and Contemporary Production Shape the Single
Musically, “On Halloween” combines film noir influences with a 1960s-style theremin, guitar, fiddle, brass arrangements and children’s vocals.
The recording features guitarist Kevin Laliberté, fiddler and theremin player Saskia Tomkins, and bassist Drew Birston, supported by a horn section.
Grammy-winning audio engineer John “Beetle” Bailey mixed the single in Dolby Atmos, incorporating immersive audio production into the family-oriented recording.
The arrangement reflects McKhool’s established approach to children’s entertainment, combining live instrumentation with interactive musical elements intended to encourage singing and dancing.
‘Global Dance Party!’ Album Arrives October 30
McKhool’s forthcoming album, Global Dance Party!, continues his focus on introducing children to diverse musical styles through accessible songs and performances.
The project emphasizes rhythm, cultural connection, storytelling and audience participation, building on more than three decades of work in Canadian family entertainment.
The Halloween single serves as a seasonal introduction to the album, highlighting McKhool’s combination of traditional instruments, contemporary production and imaginative narratives.
Toronto Halloween Concert to Celebrate Album Release
McKhool will celebrate the album’s arrival with a Halloween Kids Concert and CD release party on Friday, October 30, at Kingston Road United Church in Toronto.
Organized as part of the Kingston Road Village Concert Series, the event will include a costume contest, prizes, pizza and a family dance party.
