TORONTO, The Ontario government has announced that Bruce Power is joining Ontario Corps, expanding the province’s network of organizations and volunteers dedicated to supporting communities during emergencies and natural disasters.
The partnership will allow Ontario to draw on Bruce Power’s personnel, facilities, equipment and technical expertise to strengthen emergency preparedness and response capabilities. The initiative forms part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to improve disaster readiness and ensure critical resources can be deployed quickly when communities face emergencies.
Bruce Power to Provide Equipment, Expertise and Emergency Support
Under the partnership, Bruce Power may provide access to specialized equipment, heavy machinery, vehicles, facilities and trained personnel during emergency situations, subject to availability.
The company will also use its established relationships with contractors, suppliers, industry associations and business partners to help identify and source essential materials and equipment.
Additional support could include risk assessments, emergency and incident management expertise, technical assistance, volunteer coordination, communications and stakeholder engagement.
“We are pleased to welcome Bruce Power to the growing Ontario Corps network,” said Jill Dunlop, Minister of Emergency Preparedness and Response. “As a leader in safety and preparedness, Bruce Power brings valuable expertise, equipment, facilities and industry connections that can help support emergency response efforts across Ontario.”
Ontario Corps Targets Emergency Deployment Within 24 to 72 Hours
Ontario Corps is designed to mobilize personnel and emergency resources within 24 to 72 hours following a disaster or significant emergency.
The network can deploy equipment and supplies such as flood barriers, debris removal tools, drones and other resources needed to support affected municipalities.
Ontario Corps volunteers have already participated in several emergency response operations, including efforts during summer flooding in the Niagara region and the 2026 wildland fire season.
The province is encouraging residents from different professional backgrounds and skill levels to register as volunteers. Participants receive training and are matched with partner organizations according to their abilities, interests and availability.
Bruce Power will also encourage employees to contribute their professional skills through the volunteer program.
Energy Sector Partnership Expands Ontario’s Emergency Response Network
Bruce Power operates the Bruce Nuclear Generating Station in Bruce County, Ontario, and maintains extensive operational experience in safety management, technical operations and emergency preparedness.
The company’s participation introduces additional industrial resources and supply chain connections to Ontario Corps.
“For nearly 60 years, Bruce Power has stood with Ontario communities while building a workforce trained to respond when it matters most. Bruce Power staff bring experience to communities facing floods, wildfires, severe storms and other emergencies. This is Protect Ontario in action — mobilizing Ontario’s world-class workforce to put boots on the ground when communities need them.”

Ontario Corps Expands Public-Private Emergency Preparedness Partnerships
Bruce Power joins an established network that includes The Home Depot Canada, Labatt Breweries of Canada, Uber Canada, Niagara College, Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce.
Other participating organizations include Ontario Mine Rescue, the Ontario Road Builders’ Association, the Ontario Stone, Sand and Gravel Association and Waste to Resource Ontario.
These partnerships are intended to broaden the range of equipment, expertise, logistical assistance and personnel available during provincial emergencies.
New Emergency Response Headquarters Planned
Ontario is also developing a new Emergency Preparedness and Response Headquarters that will serve as the future operational home of Ontario Corps.
The planned facility will function as a 24-hour, year-round emergency command centre equipped with technology to support provincial coordination and disaster response.
The addition of Bruce Power reflects Ontario’s continued efforts to integrate private-sector resources into its emergency management system, strengthening coordination between government agencies, businesses and community volunteers during major emergencies.
