Prince Albert residents and visitors will have access to more than 20 free arts, heritage and cultural activities as the Saskatchewan city marks Culture Days 2026 with programming running from September 18 to October 4.
The local celebration forms part of Culture Days, a nationwide initiative that has grown into one of Canada’s largest celebrations of arts, culture and heritage. Artists, cultural organizations and municipalities across the country participate by offering free performances, exhibitions, workshops and community activities.
Prince Albert’s 2026 program will feature visual arts, live music, dance, history and multicultural experiences, giving participants a range of opportunities to explore the city’s cultural community.
Riverbank Event to Launch Prince Albert Culture Days
Programming begins Friday, September 18, with Street Eats & River Beats beside the Prince Albert Historical Museum. The free drop-in event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will combine live music with local food trucks and a collaborative art activity organized with the Mann Art Gallery.
The opening event is designed to bring residents together along the riverbank while introducing some of the artistic and community-focused programming planned throughout Culture Days.
Mann Art Gallery Opens Remix Exhibition
The Mann Art Gallery will continue the opening weekend programming with a reception for Remix, an exhibition featuring works from the gallery’s permanent collection.
The reception is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., offering visitors an opportunity to explore pieces held by the gallery and engage with Prince Albert’s visual arts community.
Local history will also be featured during the celebration. The Prince Albert Historical Museum will provide special group tours and activities on September 22, 23 and 24, giving participants opportunities to learn more about the community’s past.
Dance, Art and Multicultural Programming Planned
Culture Days will extend beyond traditional gallery and museum programming with events focused on music, movement and cultural participation.
YWCA Prince Albert will host the African Grooves Dance Party on September 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will celebrate music, culture and movement in an accessible community setting.
On September 28, participants can combine visual art and music-inspired design during Make Your Own Album Cover with Gabrielle Giroux. The hands-on activity will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. and encourage participants to create their own artwork inspired by album-cover design.
Tapestrama Cultural Festival Returns to Exhibition Grounds
One of the larger events on the Prince Albert Culture Days schedule will be the Tapestrama Cultural Festival, hosted by the Prince Albert Multicultural Council.
The festival will take place at the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds on September 26 and 27, running from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Programming will include cultural performances, exhibits, food and activities showcasing the different cultures represented in the Prince Albert community.
The event adds a multicultural focus to the broader Culture Days program while providing residents with opportunities to experience traditions, performances and food from a variety of communities.
Culture Days Highlights Prince Albert’s Cultural Landscape
City officials say the celebration is intended to encourage participation while recognizing the artists, organizations and cultural communities that contribute to Prince Albert’s identity.
“Culture Days is an opportunity to celebrate the creativity, cultures, stories, and traditions that make Prince Albert such a vibrant place to live,” says Tia Holash, Arts & Culture Coordinator for the City of Prince Albert. “Whether you’re attending a festival, trying a new art form, learning about local history, or connecting with neighbours through shared experiences, Culture Days helps bring our community together and highlights the richness of our local cultural landscape.”
With more than 20 free events planned through October 4, residents and visitors are encouraged to explore the complete schedule and participate in multiple activities during the celebration.
