Prime Video is preparing to introduce Love of Your Life, a new romantic drama starring Margaret Qualley, Aaron Pierre, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Basso and Catherine Keener, with the film scheduled to make its Toronto International Film Festival premiere on September 13, 2026.
Directed by Rachel Morrison, the film will reach a wider international audience one month later, streaming globally on Prime Video beginning October 14. The release positions the production for a high-profile festival debut in Canada before moving directly to the streaming market.
Margaret Qualley Leads Story of Love, Loss and Self-Discovery
Love of Your Life centres on Maya, played by Qualley, whose chance meeting with Charlie, portrayed by Basso, begins a sweeping romance and opens the possibility of a future beyond what she had previously imagined.
That future is abruptly disrupted, forcing Maya into a dramatically different chapter of her life. The story follows her efforts to understand who she has become, determine what she wants from the future and discover whether she can love again.
The filmmakers describe the movie as an emotionally expansive romance that examines how a person rebuilds a life after losing a great love. Grief, romance, adventure and self-discovery form the foundation of Maya’s journey, with the narrative ultimately exploring the idea that lasting love can also be found within oneself.
Rachel Morrison Brings Personal Connection to Film
Morrison, whose directing credits include The Fire Inside, said the film’s treatment of grief and appreciation resonated with her personally.
“The idea that on the other side of profound grief can lie profound appreciation and gratitude is very real and very personal for me. I’ve had a lot of loss in my life, but that loss has been offset by so much love and vitality.”
Her involvement places an established filmmaker behind a project that blends traditional romantic-drama elements with a broader examination of identity after loss.
Morrison is also known for her cinematography career and became the first woman nominated for the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. With Love of Your Life, she continues her transition into directing feature-length narrative projects.
Cast Brings Together Established and Emerging Talent
Qualley leads an ensemble that includes Aaron Pierre, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Gabriel Basso, Catherine Keener, Tamara Lawrance and Corey Johnson.
The screenplay was written by Julia Cox, while Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson serve as producers.
Dustin O’Halloran composed the music, with Jill Taylor serving as costume designer and Jennifer Vecchiarello as editor. Laura Ellis Cricks handled production design, while Todd Banhazl served as director of photography.
The combination of established performers and behind-the-camera talent gives the project a notable profile ahead of its Toronto debut.
TIFF Premiere Provides Canadian Launch Platform
The September 13 premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival gives Love of Your Life an important showcase ahead of its streaming release.
TIFF remains one of the international film industry’s most closely watched festivals, providing distributors and streaming services with a major platform for introducing films to audiences, critics and industry professionals.
For Prime Video, the festival premiere also provides an opportunity to build awareness approximately one month before the movie becomes globally available.
Prime Video Sets October 14 Worldwide Streaming Date
Following its Toronto premiere, Love of Your Life will begin streaming globally on Prime Video on October 14, expanding its reach beyond festival audiences.
The release adds another original feature to Prime Video’s entertainment catalogue, which includes movies and series from Amazon MGM Studios alongside licensed programming and live sports. In Canada, the service also carries sports programming that includes NHL, NBA, WNBA and PWHL content.
The platform additionally provides access to third-party streaming subscriptions and digital movie rentals and purchases.
With its combination of romance, grief and personal reinvention, Love of Your Life arrives as a character-driven drama built around Maya’s attempt to move forward after profound loss. Its TIFF premiere will provide the film’s first major public showcase before Prime Video brings the story to viewers worldwide in October.
