Danish singer-songwriter Tina Dico will make her Canadian debut as a headlining artist in Toronto this fall, bringing an intimate album launch performance to the Allied Music Centre Theatre at Massey Hall on October 24. The concert will arrive one day after the release of her new album, Balancing Small Things On Sharp Edges, giving Canadian audiences an early opportunity to hear the new material live.
The Toronto appearance marks another step in Dico’s growing connection with Canada, where she has performed at major folk festivals and where some of her most important musical and personal influences have taken shape.

The concert is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Allied Music Centre Theatre at Massey Hall in Toronto. Tickets are currently on sale.
Dico’s new album, Balancing Small Things On Sharp Edges, is set for release on October 23. Its lead single, “Surfing,” serves as an introduction to the Danish artist for a broader Canadian audience.
The song examines connections between individuals and the wider world, focusing on how personal actions and emotions can have consequences beyond their immediate surroundings.
“You feel it every day in a family, where every person’s mood, character, words and actions affect everyone else,” she says. “But it’s obviously true on a much bigger scale. What one person throws into the world ripples outward. We’re one big ocean of movement, all trying to keep our balance.”
That theme extends across the new album, which Dico describes as an exploration of the delicate balance between ordinary daily life and an increasingly noisy outside world.
Danish Singer Brings Established European Career to Canada
While the Toronto concert represents a Canadian debut of sorts for Dico, she arrives with an established career in Denmark and across Europe.
Dico has topped the Danish album charts five times and appeared at major festivals, including Denmark’s Roskilde Festival. In April, she performed a sold-out show at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena before an audience of 15,000.
Her career has also included an invitation to perform at Danish Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th birthday celebration, collaborations with ambient electronic duo Zero 7 and an appearance at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival.
Electric Lady Studios Among Career Milestones
Dico recorded her sixth album at Electric Lady Studios in New York, the recording facility founded by Jimi Hendrix. The experience fulfilled a long-held ambition for the singer-songwriter, who considers Hendrix one of her earliest musical influences.
Her body of work combines singer-songwriter traditions with elements of folk, pop and atmospheric production, helping her build a substantial following in her home country.
Canada Has Longstanding Personal and Musical Significance
Canada also occupies an important place in Dico’s career. She cites Canadian songwriting figures Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen among her formative influences.
Nearly two decades ago, Dico met her husband and musical partner, Helgi Jonsson, while the two were performing in Canada. Since then, her relationship with the country’s music scene has continued to develop.
Dico performed at the Vancouver Folk Music Festival in July and previously appeared alongside KT Tunstall at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival in 2024. The Toronto album launch extends that Canadian connection while bringing her new record to one of the country’s best-known music venues.
For Dico, live performances remain particularly important at a time when artists and audiences face an expanding volume of new digital content.
“Releasing music today is very different from twenty years ago,” she says. “Everything moves so fast, and there’s always something new asking for people’s attention. I’m not really trying to compete with that. At this point I feel like I’m simply adding to the story, new conversations and a new chapter. The songs are there for anyone who wants to spend time with them and hopefully come and spend time with us at the concerts. That’s where the magic really unfolds for me!”
