Drumheller’s Heavy Music Festival Unveils 14th Edition Lineup Featuring International and Canadian Metal Acts
The Loud As Hell Open Air Festival is set to return to Drumheller, Alberta, from July 31 to August 2, 2026, bringing another weekend of extreme music, camping, live entertainment, and community gathering to the heart of Alberta’s Badlands. Entering its 14th edition, the annual event will once again transform the Dinosaurs Down Stampede grounds into one of Canada’s premier destinations for heavy metal fans.
Known for combining live music with Alberta’s distinctive landscape of hoodoos, canyons, and dinosaur fossil beds, the festival will feature performances from internationally recognized and emerging metal artists alongside burlesque performances, freak shows, vendors, and educational clinics.
The 2026 lineup is headlined by Fallujah, Allegaeon, and Summoning the Lich, with additional appearances from Gravemass, Crimson Shadows, Starkill, Edge of Paradise, Super Monster Party, Mourning High, and dozens of other acts representing Canada, the United States, and beyond.

Headliners Lead Three Nights of Heavy Music
Fallujah to Close the Festival
Progressive death metal band Fallujah will headline the festival’s closing night on August 2. The California group continues to tour behind its sixth studio album, Xenotaph, released in June 2025 through Nuclear Blast Records.
The album expands on the band’s progressive approach established with Empyrean, while introducing a science fiction-inspired concept that has become central to its recent work.
Allegaeon Headlines Saturday
Colorado-based melodic technical death metal outfit Allegaeon will lead the Saturday lineup. The band returns with original vocalist Ezra Haynes and continues to build momentum through technically complex compositions and energetic live performances.
Recognized for blending precision musicianship with melodic songwriting, Allegaeon remains one of the most established names in modern melodic death metal.
Summoning the Lich Opens the Festival
Opening-night headliners Summoning the Lich will launch the weekend on July 31. The St. Louis band combines technical death metal with fantasy-inspired storytelling and recently toured extensively across the United States following the release of its 2024 album Under the Reviled Throne via Prosthetic Records.
Canadian Talent Shares the Stage with International Artists
The 2026 program also highlights a wide range of Canadian performers spanning multiple provinces.
Toronto melodic death metal veterans Crimson Shadows return to the festival with new material, while Vancouver’s Gravemass will showcase music ahead of its upcoming debut album This Is the Way, scheduled for release in March 2026.
Illinois-based Starkill continues promoting its updated recording of Be Dead or Die, while Los Angeles hard rock and metal act Edge of Paradise arrives following the release of its latest album, Prophecy, which explores themes surrounding artificial intelligence and humanity.
Additional international performers include Arizona and California-based Mourning High, winners of the 2025 Wacken Metal Battle USA, and South Florida’s Super Monster Party, known for blending metal, punk, and theatrical stage performances.
Full Weekend Includes More Than Music
In addition to concerts, Loud As Hell Open Air Festival will feature Circus of Hell freak shows, burlesque performances from Hazzardous Material, food vendors, merchandise booths, and camping facilities throughout the weekend.
Festivities begin on Thursday, July 30, with a kick-off party featuring Alberta-based acts Art Of Attrition, Fall Of Earth, All Was Lost, and The Judge The Juror before the main festival officially opens the following day.
Across Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, attendees can expect performances from more than 40 artists representing cities including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montreal, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, St. Louis, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Reno, and Fort Collins.
Festival Continues to Grow Canada’s Extreme Music Community
Since launching in 2012, Loud As Hell Open Air Festival has established itself as one of Canada’s longest-running extreme metal festivals. Aside from a pause in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has consistently brought together artists and fans from across North America.
Previous editions have featured notable names including Revocation, Beyond Creation, First Fragment, Protest the Hero, Archspire, Unleash The Archers, Goatwhore, AngelMaker, Into Eternity, Fit for An Autopsy, Green Jelly, Jungle Rot, The Convalescence, Striker, and Narcotic Wasteland.
With another diverse lineup of established and emerging artists, organizers aim to continue building the festival’s reputation as a major gathering for Canada’s heavy music community while showcasing Alberta as a destination for music tourism.
