Rush Hour and East Hill Routes Shift to Hourly Service as Core Express Suspended
PRINCE ALBERT, Saskatchewan — Prince Albert Transit has introduced temporary service adjustments affecting several bus routes, with changes taking effect immediately as the city works to maintain transit operations.
Under the revised schedule issued on July 16, 2026, both the Rush Hour and East Hill bus routes are operating on reduced hourly service, while the Core Express route has been temporarily suspended. Transit officials said all other routes across the network continue to operate according to their regular schedules.
The temporary measures are intended to provide continued transit access while accommodating operational requirements. Commuters who rely on the affected routes are being encouraged to plan their travel accordingly and monitor official updates for any further changes.
Temporary Schedule Details
According to the transit notice, the Rush Hour bus is now departing from the downtown transfer station once every hour at 15 minutes past the hour.
Meanwhile, the East Hill bus is also operating on an hourly schedule, departing from the downtown transfer station at 45 minutes past the hour.
The transit authority stated:
“The Rush Hour bus is temporarily operating hourly, leaving from the downtown transfer station at 15 minutes past the hour. The East Hill bus is temporarily operating hourly, leaving from the downtown transfer station at 45 minutes past the hour.”
Core Express Route Not Operating
In addition to the modified schedules for Rush Hour and East Hill services, the Core Express route has been taken out of service for the day.
Transit officials noted:
“The Core Express bus is not in operation today. All other transit routes are operating as scheduled.”
The suspension means passengers who normally use the Core Express service may need to seek alternative transit options or utilize other available routes within the city’s network.
Passengers Encouraged to Check for Updates
Prince Albert Transit emphasized that the temporary schedule could be revised as circumstances change. Riders are advised to stay informed through official transit communication channels before beginning their journeys.
The transit notice stated:
“Please check Prince Albert Transit for up-to-date information on transit routes and schedules. Any revisions to this schedule will be published as soon as we have that information. Until then, the above schedule will be in effect.”
Importance for Daily Commuters
Public transit remains a critical transportation service for residents travelling to work, school, medical appointments, and other destinations throughout Prince Albert. Temporary route modifications can affect commute times and connections, particularly during peak travel periods.
By publishing schedule updates and route information, Prince Albert Transit aims to help passengers adjust their travel plans and minimize disruptions. Riders using the Rush Hour and East Hill routes are encouraged to allow additional planning time and verify departure times before leaving for bus stops.
Looking Ahead
While no timeline has been provided for the restoration of normal service on the affected routes, Prince Albert Transit indicated that any future revisions will be communicated promptly. Until further notice, the temporary hourly schedules for the Rush Hour and East Hill buses, along with the suspension of the Core Express route, remain in effect.
For transit users across Prince Albert, staying informed about service updates will be essential as the city continues to manage daily transportation operations and maintain service across its broader transit network.
