Swedish game developer Lavapotion has announced that the next major expansion for Songs of Conquest will arrive on PC on June 4. The upcoming Yulan Faction DLC will launch through Steam, introducing a new playable faction, expanded strategic mechanics, and a fresh region designed to deepen the game’s tactical gameplay.
The announcement marks one of the most anticipated updates for fans of the turn-based strategy title, which has continued building a dedicated player base among PC gamers who enjoy classic fantasy strategy experiences similar to Heroes of Might and Magic.
Yulan Expansion Introduces the Region of Aerbor
The Yulan DLC centers on Aerbor, a secluded land shaped by political tensions, competing ideologies, and uneasy alliances. According to Lavapotion, the expansion explores the power struggles between three influential houses that define the faction’s identity and gameplay systems.
Three Houses Shape Gameplay Strategy
Players will be able to align themselves with one of three houses: Li, Sheng, or Xuan. Each house represents a different aspect of Essence, the game’s magical and strategic foundation.
- House Li focuses on Order
- House Sheng represents Creation
- House Xuan specializes in Arcana
The choice of allegiance affects how armies develop throughout a campaign. Units can evolve differently depending on the house serving as their primary influence, creating multiple progression paths and tactical combinations.
Lavapotion also confirmed that players will not be limited to a single path. Armies can combine elements from multiple houses, allowing for hybrid strategies and more flexible army compositions.
New Units Expand Tactical Options
The Yulan DLC introduces eight new units, many featuring branching upgrade systems designed to encourage experimentation and replayability.
Units Designed Around Transformation and Synergy
Among the newly revealed units are Grenadiers, Conscripts, Tian, and Seekers. Each brings different combat abilities and strategic roles to the battlefield.
Some units can evolve into multiple forms depending on player choices, adding another layer of customization. That system is expected to create stronger synergies between army composition, faction alignment, and long-term campaign planning.
The expansion appears aimed at players who prefer adaptive strategies rather than fixed unit builds, a design approach increasingly popular in modern strategy games.
Songs of Conquest Continues Growing Its PC Audience
Since its release, Songs of Conquest has gained attention for blending retro-inspired fantasy visuals with modern tactical systems. The game has found a strong audience among PC strategy fans in the United States and Europe, particularly players looking for alternatives to larger mainstream strategy franchises.
The addition of Yulan represents one of the game’s largest faction expansions so far, expanding both the lore and gameplay depth available to players.
Steam Release Scheduled for June 4
Lavapotion confirmed that the Yulan Faction DLC will launch exclusively on PC via Steam on June 4. The studio first revealed the expansion earlier in 2026, and anticipation has continued to grow as more gameplay details have emerged.
With new faction mechanics, expanded army customization, and an entirely new region to explore, the Yulan expansion is positioned to significantly broaden the strategic possibilities within Songs of Conquest for both longtime players and newcomers alike.
