Prime Video has released the first-look images for Spider-Noir, a high-profile new live-action series that underscores the streaming platform’s continued investment in premium franchise-driven originals. The series, starring Nicolas Cage in his first leading role on television, is scheduled to premiere worldwide in Spring 2026.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television exclusively for MGM+ and Prime Video, the series will follow a staggered release strategy. It is set to debut domestically on MGM+’s linear broadcast channel before rolling out globally on Prime Video across more than 240 countries and territories. The approach reflects a broader trend among media companies to maximize reach through hybrid distribution models that blend traditional and streaming platforms.
Prime Video says Spider-Noir will offer audiences a distinctive viewing option, with the series available in both “Authentic Black & White” and “True-Hue Full Color.” The dual-format release is designed to complement the show’s noir-inspired aesthetic while allowing viewers to choose how they experience the story, a creative decision that aligns with the brand’s push to differentiate its original programming in an increasingly crowded streaming market.
The newly released images introduce audiences to the show’s core characters, led by Cage’s portrayal of Ben Reilly. Once a masked superhero known as “The Spider,” Reilly has since retreated from his alter ego following a personal tragedy. Now a down-on-his-luck private investigator in 1930s New York, the character is forced to confront his past when an extraordinary case draws him back into the shadows.
Joining Cage is Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, a determined journalist navigating the challenges of building a career in Depression-era New York while maintaining a close friendship with Reilly. Li Jun Li plays Cat Hardy, a headlining attraction at one of the city’s premiere nightclubs, whose seemingly self-interested persona conceals deeper motivations. Karen Rodriguez rounds out the central cast as Janet, Reilly’s sharp and outspoken secretary, whose loyalty to her boss is matched by her willingness to challenge authority.
The series is based on the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir and expands the Spider-Man universe into a grounded, period-set crime drama. Spider-Noir follows Reilly as he grapples with his former life as the city’s only superhero while navigating the moral and economic complexities of 1930s New York. The noir setting and mature tone position the series as a departure from traditional superhero fare, targeting adult audiences drawn to character-driven storytelling.
The full cast also includes Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson, alongside a wide roster of guest stars such as Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, and Amy Aquino. The ensemble underscores the project’s scale and ambition, as well as the growing appeal of streaming series for established film and television talent.
Behind the camera, the series is led by Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer, who directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Co-showrunners and executive producers Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot developed the series with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal, the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Cage also serves as an executive producer, alongside Pavlina Hatoupis.
For Prime Video and MGM+, Spider-Noir represents a strategic expansion of genre programming rooted in globally recognized intellectual property, while offering a stylistic twist aimed at standing out in the competitive streaming landscape. As platforms continue to prioritize franchise extensions with premium production values, the success of Spider-Noir will be closely watched by industry observers when it arrives in 2026.
