Toronto, ON — Massey Hall has unveiled the lineup for the 11th Annual Dream Serenade, a benefit concert that has become one of Toronto’s most anticipated cultural events. This year’s edition, set for October 25 on the historic Allan Slaight Stage, will bring together some of the country’s most celebrated artists in support of children with developmental and physical disabilities and their families.
The 2025 lineup features acclaimed singer-songwriter Feist, rock favourites The Sheepdogs, The National’s Matt Berninger, Barenaked Ladies, American musician Josh Rouse, Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew, and event co-founder Hayden. Organizers promise additional special guests and collaborations on the night of the show.
A Legacy of Community Support
Founded in 2014 by Toronto musician Hayden Desser and his wife, Christie Greyerbiehl, Dream Serenade began as a personal effort to raise funds for a new playground at their daughter’s school, Beverley School, which supports children with developmental disabilities. Over the past decade, the concert has grown into a cornerstone fundraising initiative, directly supporting hundreds of families in the Greater Toronto Area.
“Dream Serenade is an annual benefit concert and celebration of Toronto’s community of children with developmental and/or physical disabilities and their caregivers,” organizers said. Since its launch, the event has channelled donations into the Dream Serenade Summer Bursary Fund, a program that provides financial assistance to families for summer activities, care, and resources.
This year, the bursary program collaborated with 33 social worker partners across the city to identify families most in need. As a result, 280 bursaries were distributed throughout Toronto. Donations continue to be accepted at www.dreamserenade.ca.
Music Meets Purpose
The concert’s reputation for pairing celebrated performers with a spirit of generosity has made it a hallmark of Toronto’s cultural calendar. Each year, audiences at Massey Hall experience more than just individual sets by renowned musicians. The event is also known for unique collaborations, short films, a silent auction, and surprise guest appearances.
“Hosted at Massey Hall, the show is an unforgettable evening featuring sets by acclaimed artists, special collaborations, short films, a silent auction and exciting surprise guests,” organizers said.
The legacy of past performers underscores the event’s stature. Previous Dream Serenade stages have welcomed Gord Downie, Billy Talent, City and Colour, Howard Jones, Broken Social Scene, Jim Cuddy, Gowan, Serena Ryder, Bahamas, Sam Roberts, Shad, The Rural Alberta Advantage, July Talk, Elisapie, Sarah Harmer, William Prince, Haviah Mighty, and many more.
Economic and Cultural Impact
For Massey Hall, hosting Dream Serenade contributes to Toronto’s position as a premier live music hub in Canada. The venue itself is central to the city’s cultural identity, and events like Dream Serenade draw diverse audiences and international attention.
With demand for tickets expected to remain high, the benefit concert is also an economic boost, drawing concertgoers downtown and generating revenue for surrounding businesses. Select tickets are still available through masseyhall.com or by calling the box office at 416-872-4255.
Looking Ahead
As Dream Serenade enters its second decade, its dual mission of celebrating music while supporting families continues to resonate. The involvement of high-profile artists each year ensures both strong attendance and ongoing visibility for its cause.
For Hayden, Greyerbiehl, and the community of volunteers, the event is a testament to the power of the arts in mobilizing resources and raising awareness.
“Since then, the popular annual event has grown to raise funds that directly assist hundreds of Toronto area families each year through the Summer Bursary Fund,” organizers emphasized.
With a history of unforgettable performances and a growing impact on the families it serves, the Dream Serenade has become more than a concert—it is a cultural and philanthropic institution in Toronto’s arts landscape.
The 11th annual edition promises another night of memorable music and meaningful giving when the lights go up at Massey Hall on October 25.
