TORONTO – Massey Hall has announced that acclaimed American singer and pianist Sarah McCoy will perform at the Allied Music Centre Theatre on Saturday, November 1, 2025, marking a highly anticipated stop in her international performance schedule.
With a reputation for raw intensity and a sound that straddles blues, alternative soul, and electronica, McCoy has quickly carved out a space as one of today’s most distinctive musical voices. Born in the United States but now based in France, she has won critical praise for her two studio albums, Blood Siren (Blue Note, 2019) and High Priestess (2023).
Her collaborations with prominent figures including Chilly Gonzales, Renaud Letang, Philippe Cohen Solal of Gotan Project, film composer Amine Bouhafa, and director Patricia Mazuy have broadened her reach across both music and film. At the same time, her reputation as a live performer has grown steadily thanks to a stage presence defined by emotional vulnerability, dark humour, and a disarming honesty.
From New Orleans Clubs to International Stages
McCoy’s performance roots stretch back to New Orleans, where she honed her craft in cabarets and clubs during a multi-year residency. Those formative experiences, steeped in the city’s eclectic nightlife, continue to influence her approach.
“It’s there she developed her signature blend of raw vulnerability, dark humour, smouldering rage, and uncompromising honesty,” Massey Hall said in a release. “That legacy is still at the heart of her performances today — a visceral, instinctive kind of storytelling where every note and every pause matters.”
Toronto audiences can expect a performance that is both retrospective and forward-looking. McCoy will revisit her most well-known songs while also previewing material that is still in progress. Accompanied by musicians Jeffrey Hallam on bass and synth bass, and Antoine Kerninon on drums and synth, the concert is billed as an evolving workshop — a chance for audiences to witness her creative process unfolding in real time.
“Each performance becomes a living, breathing workshop — a unique version of her inner world unfolding in close conversation with the audience,” the release noted. “A rare experience where life story and artistic creation meet in motion.”
