Spanish companies Acs and Acciona were finalists for a project to build a new metro line in Calgary, Canada. This was reported in the “Cinco Dias” newspaper, indicating that the overall budget of the project is 4.1 billion euros. Two consortiums have reached the final stage and Acs is involved in both, the first through its subsidiary in the US (Flatiron) and the other through its construction company Dragados, in which Acciona is also involved. In this way, the company led by Florentino Pérez ensures its contribution to the project. If he wins with Flatiron, he will team up with local firms Barnard and Wps to build the lineup, while if he wins with Dragados, he will work with Aecom and Parsons, in addition to Acciona. The 18-kilometre light rail line is the largest infrastructure project in Calgary’s history. The Canadian government has allocated $1.6 billion, the province of Alberta $1.7 billion and the city $2.2 billion. The works include 13 stations and some tunnels, as the train will also run underground, as well as several bridges, three large parking lots and a maintenance building for the train station.
