Six-episode series starring the Emmy Award winner will stream globally in more than 240 countries and territories
Prime Video has released the official trailer and key art for the upcoming comedy series Bait, created by and starring Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Riz Ahmed. The six-episode series is scheduled to premiere March 25, 2026, exclusively on Prime Video, reaching audiences in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The series marks a new original production from the streaming platform and places Ahmed at the centre of the story as Shah Latif, a struggling actor confronting what could be his final opportunity for a career breakthrough.
Bait follows Latif as he faces a pivotal audition that could redefine his future in the entertainment industry. The series unfolds over four chaotic days during which his life begins to unravel while those around him — including family members, a former lover, and the wider public — weigh in on whether he is the right choice for the role that could change everything.
Ahmed, known for his work across film and television, not only leads the cast but also serves behind the scenes as a creator, writer and executive producer of the project.
The series features a supporting ensemble that includes Guz Khan as “Zulfi,” Sheeba Chaddha as “Tahira,” Sajid Hasan as “Parvez,” Aasiya Shah as ‘Q,’ Weruche Opia as “Felicia,” and Ritu Arya as “Yasmin.” The cast brings together performers from multiple international markets, reflecting the series’ global production scope and audience reach.
Production duties for Bait are shared between Jax Media and Amazon MGM Studios. Ahmed and Allie Moore serve as executive producers on behalf of Left Handed, while Jake Fuller executive produces for Jax Media. Television veteran Ben Karlin also executive produces and serves as showrunner alongside Ahmed.
Karlin, whose past credits include several major television comedies, joins Ahmed in shaping the narrative direction of the series, which blends character-driven storytelling with comedic elements centred on the pressures and unpredictability of the entertainment industry.
The release of the trailer and promotional artwork marks the latest step in the platform’s marketing rollout ahead of the show’s debut later this month. Screeners and additional promotional materials, including first-look images and a preview clip, have also been distributed to media outlets as part of the promotional campaign.
For Prime Video, the launch of Bait adds to a growing catalogue of original programming developed by Amazon MGM Studios and partner production companies. The streaming platform continues to expand its slate of scripted series and films as competition intensifies across the global streaming market.
Prime Video positions itself as a comprehensive entertainment destination, offering a broad mix of original programming, licensed content, live sports and subscription add-ons within a single application accessible across thousands of devices.
The platform’s original content portfolio includes high-profile series and films such as Fallout, Heads of State, Reacher, Red One, Road House, The Accountant 2, The Boys, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, and The Summer I Turned Pretty. In addition to originals and sports programming, the service hosts a range of licensed titles and documentary content, including sports documentaries such as Bye Bye Barry, Kelce, and Earnhardt.
The platform allows viewers to personalize their viewing experience by subscribing to additional streaming services directly through Prime Video, including MGM+, Apple TV+, HBO Max, Peacock, FOX One and Crunchyroll. More than 800 free ad-supported streaming television (FAST) channels are also available through the platform.
Customers can also rent or purchase individual titles and access additional features such as X-Ray, which provides behind-the-scenes information about movies and television shows while they watch.
Prime Video is available both to Prime members and to customers who subscribe directly to the service without a broader Prime membership, giving viewers flexible options to access its programming library.
With its global release planned for March 25, Bait will join the platform’s expanding lineup of original series aimed at international audiences, as Prime Video continues to invest in new productions and creator-led storytelling for the global streaming market.
