Transit riders are being advised of temporary changes to several bus routes, with some services reduced or suspended while others continue operating normally, according to an update released March 5, 2026.
The notice indicates that adjustments have been made primarily to rush-hour and key connector routes departing from the downtown transfer station, with the goal of maintaining service continuity while transit operations address short-term conditions affecting scheduling.
According to the announcement, two major routes are currently operating on modified schedules. The Rush Hour bus, which normally runs more frequently during peak commuting times, is now running on an hourly schedule. Buses on this route depart from the downtown transfer station at 15 minutes past each hour.
Transit officials noted that the change is temporary and is intended to ensure that service remains available while the system operates under the current constraints.
The East Hill route has also been adjusted to an hourly schedule. Under the temporary arrangement, buses depart from the downtown transfer station at 45 minutes past the hour. Riders using the route are encouraged to plan their trips accordingly to accommodate the revised departure times.
In addition to the reduced frequency on those two routes, one service has been suspended entirely. The Core Express bus is not currently operating, the update stated.
Transit authorities did not specify how long the suspension would remain in place but indicated that other parts of the network remain unaffected.
Aside from the temporary changes to the Rush Hour and East Hill routes and the suspension of the Core Express bus, the rest of the transit network is continuing to run on its normal timetable.
The notice emphasized that “All other routes are operating as scheduled.”
Officials said the downtown transfer station remains the central departure point for the adjusted routes, making it easier for passengers to coordinate transfers and plan their journeys even while schedules are modified.
Public transit systems frequently introduce temporary service adjustments in response to operational factors such as staffing availability, vehicle maintenance requirements, or changing ridership patterns. By shifting some routes to hourly service, agencies are often able to preserve coverage across the network while using available resources more efficiently.
For commuters who rely on the affected services, the changes may require additional planning, particularly during peak travel periods when riders previously expected shorter wait times.
Passengers travelling on the Rush Hour route should arrive at the downtown transfer station shortly before 15 minutes past the hour to catch departures, while those heading toward East Hill should plan for buses leaving at 45 minutes past the hour.
Transit officials encouraged riders to monitor service updates and allow extra time for travel while the temporary schedule remains in place.
The update forms part of the agency’s ongoing effort to keep passengers informed about operational changes and ensure riders can continue moving through the city with minimal disruption.
No additional route changes were announced in the March 5 update, and the agency said regular service continues across the remainder of the system. Further announcements will be made if schedules change again or if suspended routes are restored.
For now, riders using the Rush Hour and East Hill buses will need to adjust to hourly departures, while passengers who normally rely on the Core Express route will need to seek alternative transit options until service resumes.
